World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

This isn't breaking news, we've known it was false almost immediately.
I do agree it's not productive to post a source as obviously biased as OP's tho. No one is going to listen to that site except people that agree with it solely because of the name.
Reporting genocide is a bias now. Highly suggest reading Lewis Raven Wallace's book A View From Somewhere. It discusses how "objective journalism" silences marginalized voices and forces those writers to "see both sides" of their material reality. Media Bias metric sites are not without their own inherent bias towards the status quo. Everything is political. Including being "unbiased". Electronic Intifada is reporting from Gaza about Gazans, they are doing great work.
It's a stupid story anyway because there's enough atrocities committed by hamas that we have clear evidence of. No reason to just parrot what Netanyahu says, who clearly tries to hyperbolically one-up stories to justify his actions. It just gives the hamas apologists some sort of "gotcha" moment.
Are there Israeli claims older than 3 months that haven't already been disproven?
Because Biden is literally still talking about this one and others that have been disproven.
So it's pretty disappointing if he's doing that while there's actual evidence for other claims.
No idea. I don't really follow this much, especially not what either side claims. I've seen both do absolute heinous acts. I'm just sick and tired of people defending those atrocities because of some sort of tribalism towards their team, or against the other team.
Well, you might want to stop acting like there's mountains of evidence if you're self admittedly ignorant of any factual evidence...
That's the point of "gish gallop" propaganda like Israel is using. They make a shit ton of claims that will eventually turn out to be proven false. But they're counting on people who don't stay informed to "feel" like there's so much evidence some of it has to be true and not stay up to date on all the follow ups that each piece isn't
I have eyes my dude. Just because I don't take either sides propaganda for granted doesn't mean I am ignorant about the topic. If you don't believe that hamas brutally attacked, tortured, raped, murdered and beheaded innocent civilians then you're a tool.
I'm confused, do you mean you've been in Gaza the last 6 months?
Or did your eyes see videos/articles, but you don't follow the news enough to know when they turn out to be false? Where are you even seeing that stuff in the first place?
It sounds like you ignore actual journalism and just go off of social media...
What are your eyes seeing exactly that you can't share with the class so it can be easily disproven?
And what's the point of you just replying over and over saying there's evidence but you just can't show anyone?
How is that different than what Rudy Giuliani and the Pillow Crackhead have been doing the last couple years?
My dude, if you have to make shit up about things I allegedly said then at least don't go onto some rambling tantrum about all the other things I allegedly did or didn't do. It just makes you look like you have to push an agenda.
...
Am I the one claiming mountains of evidence exist but refusing to ever link anything?
You're making claims that evidence is all over and readily available, but instead of linking it, you just want to keep hurling insults.
Just link it bro.
The longer this goes on, the less likely anyone is to believe "your eyes".
Seriously, when the best analogies for your actions is Rudy Giuliani, it's time for some introspection
