The annual pretending Democrats don't uphold systemic issues because Trump is clearly worse. 🙄

[–] deaf_fish@lemm.ee 33 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I don't think that is what this post is saying.

Oh no, Democrats have their issues, sure. Far as I can tell though, they every now and then do good, can be convinced towards reasonable action, and aren't trying to, at least openly, control everything from sex to a child's school lunch.

Is it perfect? Far from it. Though at least with them we have a chance to promote some positive change. It feels like a chance. One where we have a hand tied behind our collective backs, though a chance all the same.

Reality means holding your nose and picking the one that most aligns with you. Incremental progress or monumental regression. Your call

I see no progress other than normal recession recovery stuff. I got to give him one thing, he said he's the status quo guy and he delivered.

I'm curious what your thoughts are on a 2nd term with Trump as President. Do you feel there will be significant progress towards achievable goals that support people?

Oh, so you must want to support a candidate who has, at least, made and kept some promises?

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (2 children)

That's pretty reductionist. I want to support a candidate who isn't just the status quo or worse.

[–] PhlubbaDubba@lemm.ee 0 points 7 months ago

Well by not supporting the status quo candidate you're supporting worse.

That's how the math works out, literally that's mathematically proven.

It's realistic in this situation. I do agree that much of the time we should focus in supporting good candidates, not just who others say we should. This time though there have been words said, and promises made, that threaten the lives of potentially millions of people. My goal is Biden first, better after. For this time only it is what we have to do. Afterwards let's come together to make that positive change we all want happen.

I did that in 2020. He passed on the chance to reform the system and prevent this exact situation.
