The Biden old crowd has moved on to Gaza. Every so often they replay the hits though.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Apparently the NYT uses it as an old standby, mostly because of their petty butthurt.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -1 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I've never cared about Biden's age. Centrists were ageist as hell during the 2016 primaries, and I don't go there.

Biden supports genocide and he should stop. No matter how much it would disappoint centrist Democrats.

[–] Alto@kbin.social 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

You're not going to find many people here that disagree with that. We're just well aware that as awful as Biden is regarding it, there's a 0% chance Trump isn't miles worse. Anyone who doesn't want to accept that is delusional.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

You're not going to find many people here that disagree with that.

You'd think so, wouldn't you.

You go on to insinuate that I'm a trumper for saying anything that isn't flat out worship of Biden and his support for genocide.

[–] Alto@kbin.social 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Not sure where I implied that at all. I simply said expecting Trump to be any better on the issue is moronic.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So you weren't doing the "you think trump would be better?" thing?

[–] Alto@kbin.social 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I never said you said that, and I really don't think I implied it. I said anyone who doesn't realize the reality of the situation is a moron. I'm not sure why you're so insistent to interpret that as "you specifically think this and are stupid"

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -4 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Because I didn't bring up the orange shitbarge.

[–] Alto@kbin.social 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I was providing the primary reason a lot of us are holding our noses and voting for Biden anyway. Not everything is a personal attack against you.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

And we don't have some magical moral choice here. We're getting these 2, no questioning that. That's why ensign crab connected the toddler. Because he inherently knows those are the choices. So having wet dreams about Biden not being a Zionist isn't doing anyone favors.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That's the alternative to Biden.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I mean, Biden could stop supporting genocide. But you don't want him to. No centrist does.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

You know, you might try to start arguing in good faith, but you obviously won't. I'm not a centrist and I certainly don't want Biden supporting genocide.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Sure looks to me like you're more upset at people who want Biden to stop supporting genocide than you are at Biden for supporting genocide. At least in this thread.

I associate that with centrists.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I'm annoyed that people want to ignore/downplay the danger of having donnie in office.

The choices are: Biden or Trump. That's it.

Donnie is most likely going to be far worse for Gaza AND for us. Not only will there be genocide in Gaza, there is danger of that coming to our shores under donnie. I'd rather have a right-leaning centrist like Biden in office if the only alternative is donnie (and that is the only alternative).

And I've always detested our special relationship with Israel when it comes to them buying our politicians, who then send untold amounts of money to Israel to maintain a decades-long open-air prison, and to add salt in the wound, a compliant media that was calling everyone who pointed out how ridiculous and immoral that was an "antisemite". This notion that only one country cannot have its policies questioned is absurd. For a long time, it was both U.S. and Israel that were in that category - in U.S. media, anyway. Then it became feasible to start questioning U.S. foreign policy, but not Israel's. I think that is breaking down, now, too, thankfully. Unfortunately, lots of tankie idiots and agent provocateurs are likely to ruin that, not to mention the overreaction from campus leadership and so on...

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

The choices are: Biden or Trump. That’s it.

Then Biden should stop supporting the genocide that all centrists have always wanted. Since centrists LOVE genocide, since it's the ONLY policy they don't abandon when they encounter opposition, they have to be like "buh whubbut trump?" Whenever anyone who isn't a morally reprehensible piece of pro-genocide shit says that BIDEN. SHOULD. STOP. SUPPORTING. GENOCIDE.

And I’ve always detested our special relationship with Israel when it comes to them buying our politicians, who then send untold amounts of money to Israel to maintain a decades-long open-air prison, and to add salt in the wound, a compliant media that was calling everyone who pointed out how ridiculous and immoral that was an “antisemite”. This notion that only one country cannot have its policies questioned is absurd.

That goes for the "good" genocide party in the US as well. They're not above reproach just because centrists' second choice is worse.

Unfortunately, lots of tankie idiots

And you wonder why I though you were a centrist. Look out, the tankies are gonna steal your precious bodily fluids.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Hey, if you don't think there are performative low-info people doing dumb things in relation to Gaza/Hamas, giving lots of fodder (even though they are the exception) to people intent on being dishonest about Israel, I'm not sure what to tell you.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Oh, I believe such people exist. They can usually be spotted screaming "tankie!" at anyone to the left of Joe Manchin.

[–] JustZ@lemmy.world -2 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Biden doesn't see it as a genocide and neither do a lot of people.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

A lot of people don't see the Holocaust as a genocide. Those people are stupid.

[–] JustZ@lemmy.world -2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

7,000,000 > 30,000. You sound overly emotional. Check your figures.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Are you saying that 30,000 is acceptable to you?

[–] JustZ@lemmy.world -2 points 6 months ago

No of course not but things don't happen in a vacuum. On balance, the alliance with Israel and the West is more important because it contains Iran.

There is no area more critical to global security than the Middle East for the next 100 years, and Iran is a time bomb of far right religious insanity. Iran has 90,000,000 people living in it, man. I'm talking about 90,000,000 people. 90,000,000. You want to talk about 30,000 as if its the end of the world, as if it matters more than an alliance that protects tens of millions of people, even from themselves? There are floods that kill 30,000 people in an afternoon. Hamas has allies all over the region that kills 30,000 civilians every year. The world isn't going to cede any democracy, flawed or not, to Iran, or any other religious dictatorship, over a small town worth of people.

Preventing a larger war between Israel and Iran is how life and human rights will be secured and protected for new generations in the middle east, it will absolutely not come from any Imamate or Caliphate, or from any far right system of violent religious autocracy, such as are wildly popular and deeply entrenched in Gaza, Iran, and Yemen.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -1 points 6 months ago

Anyone who pretends it's not genocide knows better.
