Dianne is part of a thin Senate majority and on the judiciary committee. If she were to retire now, governor Newsome would name a replacement and set up a special election. But, that replacement would not have her senority in the Senate or on committee. So, should something happen, like Biden nominating a new judge, it could turn into a real shitshow. Could relive Garland. That is the reason, I think, that you won't see her gone until the next Senate
Of course she still votes on the floor and in Committee. I believe she has some say over priorities on the Committee
Someone does. It isn't her.
She's wasnt even fucking aware she was gone for 6 months. They care more about power than their constituents.
I voted for her in her most recent election for similar reasons. I didn’t want a first year senator when we were having to deal with Trump.
I don’t think I’d make the same decision today after seeing how far she’s declined. She’s senior, but she’s not the powerful voice of leadership that we need. And Feinstein’s clout, such as it is, has been imperceptible in therms of making the Senate not a shitshow. She has less ability to make things go right than freshman senator Sinema has wielded to make things into the shitshow.
She should be pushed out of office.
Not physically.
And she should be replaced with someone able to both take an active role now and who will be able to grow their position for decades.
