But sadly, this doesn’t stop Biden from being old, which is somehow- WAY worse. Even when you compile everything together that makes Trump a human shaped sack of shit- we’re ignorantly still supposed to choose him over…. oLd!

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 21 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Says who? Personally I'm concerned Biden will lose to Trump which is why I'm hoping he'll step back - but I'm absolutely going to vote for Biden if the choice is Biden or Trump.

[–] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 18 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I'd vote for that clump of laundry at the bottom of your hamper that you've been meaning to hand wash for the past year, but never make time for, rather than vote for Trump.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

I'd sooner vote for a cardboard cut out of Reagan motoroized waiving hand than trump. (how bad could a cardboard cut out be?)

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago

Yup, I just fucking want a winner - and someone who "gives it their all but fails" would be the absolute worst if they got in the way of an actual winner.

Says a shit ton of MAGA trolls here and on other social media platforms.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Biden has got this. Biden has momentum. The MSM is full of shit.

[–] chakan2@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

I'm pretty sure everyone on this platform will vote for Biden. There are swing voters out there that won't.

How we vote, ultimately, doesn't matter. It's those handful of fools in the 15 or 16 important counties of swing states that matter. Right now the polls say they're sitting this one out or voting Trump.

Dismissing the old commentary is how democracy dies.

[–] JimSamtanko@lemm.ee -1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Is your point against him that he’s a president for all citizens of America and not just for the democrats?

Do you know what a president is?

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Do you know what a president is?

Well, maybe, just maybe, he should be the guy with policies for both parties. You do know that don't you?

[–] JimSamtanko@lemm.ee 0 points 3 months ago

That is what I said when you made it out to be that he had appeal from both sides. Pay attention.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world -3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

because being concerned that Biden can't beat trump makes you a trump voter.

to be candid, it's not that he's old, even if that's what's ultimately causing the problems people are concerned by. It's that he's having trouble communicating things. He's really only had 3 campaign events that have gotten wide attention. (does any one have a list of those 20 events he mentioned? cuz, I'm not seeing them and I'm not really in the mood to troll his schedule.)

There's the debate. which was a clusterfuck of epic proportions. Then there was the interview that was.... like... not good. and then there was the NATO press conference which mostly sucked.

Every single one of them had gaffs. every single one of them had rambling semi-coherent thoughts at various points. and all this is outright ignoring the speech impediment/stutter. (which definitely seems more pronounced...), and then there's the whole "I've met with the best doctors..."

Remember Trump's "person, woman, man, camera, tv" moment? part of the reason that's hilariously not proof he's okay is simply because they only do cognitive tests if there's already signs of cognitive decline or a reason to suspect there might be any how.. Granted, I don't know what "tests" they conducted. it could have been routine visits. but if he's being referred to specialists... it's because there's good reason to refer him to specialists.

it doesn't matter. I don't think he has the ability to inspire and motivate Americans to get out and vote. He's just another geriatric white guy telling us all what to do. been there. done that. whatevs.

And I really don't think he has the personality and temperament to actually respond to trump's campaign strategy. which is built around hate, intolerance and mocking his opponent.

We’re not voting for the man- we’re voting for the administration. We’re voting AGAINST Trump, not FOR Biden.

We’re not getting a good candidate. It’s the eleventh hour. It’s not happening. We missed out chance when everyone slept for the past four years. It’s Biden, or lose American democracy now. Those are the choices.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It’s Biden, or lose American democracy now

But Biden's policies are popular with both parties. He has a great rack record. The media wants Democrats to snatch defeat from the mouth of victory.

[–] JimSamtanko@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

A good president SHOULD have policies that are popular with both parties. You know that right? It’s important that you know that.

He’s not just a president for democrats.

[–] shani66@ani.social -3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm pretty sure the only options are losing democracy, just at different rates. Not to say don't vote or whatever the libs think people complaining about Biden mean, it's stupid i gotta clarify that but whatever.

[–] JimSamtanko@lemm.ee 4 points 3 months ago

We’ve been fine for the last four years. I don’t know why everyone thinks Biden can’t do it. Sure… He sucks. Dude is essentially a stale fart forgotten in a mason jar compared to nearly…. Anyone else, but this is where we are now. Becasue the system doesn’t get fixed when people only pay attention one year out of every four.

And it’s certainly not helped when those same people think that not voting is somehow going to bring about change.

Seriously… try and imagine that-

Imagine what it takes to Think that doing nothing at all for three years, then whining online and urging people to do nothing during an election, and thinking…. “Yep! That’ll show-em! That’ll change shit! For sure!

Not to mention that people are complaining about one candidate being old… verses another that is ALSO old, and a treasonous felon and a convicted rapist that will destroy democracy with Project 2025.

And the as people telling us not to vote- think these two men are the same.

They’re not.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world -5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

/golfclap.

If that’s true then you don’t care who it is, and it should be okay for Biden to be replaced, right?

If what your saying, you truly believe, wouldn’t talking about - seriously talking about- whose the most capable of beating Trump be a discussion you’re interested in?

And, what does that jingoistic crap even mean? “We’re not voting for the man, we’re voting for the administration”? Seriously.

I doubt Biden can actually win in November. I’m not alone. Trumps campaign isn’t going to be on the merits of Trump. It’s going to be on “he can’t even string two sentences together! He thinks I was his VP! He thinks Putin is leading Ukraine!! Sleepy Joe! Let’s Go Brandon! Murder the libs! ‘Murica Fuck Yeah!”

Biden has solid policy, but he won’t win on it.

Also if he needs to pace himself now how’s he gonna fair in September and October, leading up to November?

Has he had a public appearance that was gaff free? It seems like every time he’s doing something there’s at least one gaff. And that’s all just more ammunition for Trump to campaign on.

[–] JimSamtanko@lemm.ee 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

You might have been too preoccupied with your little snarky clapping, so let me say it again-

It’s the eleventh hour. It’s not happening. We missed out chance when everyone slept for the past four years. It’s Biden, or lose American democracy now. Those are the choices.

If you think Biden can’t win, and decide not to vote because of this- then it’s pretty much a willfully self-fulfilled prophecy.

It’s too fucking late to replace him. We go with what he have and try and keep America from belonging to Trump.Inc.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Dude. We’re not even past the Convention yet. It’s not the eleventh hour. People saying the same shit as you, refused to have this conversation in the primary, now it’s too late? When should we have it? After Trump wins because Biden didn’t campaign in Michigan and PA?

Did I ever say I wouldn’t vote?

No. I did not. Have never told any one to not vote? No. I have not.

Have I said Biden is a terrible candidate? Absolutely. Because I believe it to be so, with the same conviction I felt Hillary was going to lose.

You have yet to actually address any concerns, though, instead you’re telling me how to vote and implying I’m voting for fascism if I don’t comply with your directives.

Guess what. That’s how you convince people not to vote. That’s how you convince people “both sides” and that’s how you lose elections.

This kind of rhetoric? It’s why Hillary lost. Her hubris lead her (and her team) to be very much like this. There was other stuff, but it ultimately came down to arrogance.
