The way I'm reading it, the Biden Faction has three possible futures:

  1. Have Biden withdraw
  2. Keep Biden, lose the election
  3. Keep Biden, win the election

1 and 2 are bad for the Biden Faction because it means the end of their jobs. In the case of 1, the new candidate's Faction would replace them, and in the case of 2, they eat shit and they're muscled out by whatever Faction is currently performing the media coup.

3 is their only path to keeping their Beltway jobs which will launch them into cushy consultation gigs in the future a la the entire Obama administration, so they're going to fight tooth and nail to keep Biden even if the odds are stacked against him. The DNC won't really mind if he loses because then Biden acts as a Sin Eater for the genocide that Democrats have been committing in Palestine and they get to keep fundraising off of the new Drumpf presidency

I think this sums up the calculations for the administration staffers very well
