It's 2016 and the DNC is rigging the democratic presidential primary.

It's 2020 and the DNC is rigging the democratic presidential primary.

It's 2024 and the DNC is rigging the democratic presidential primary.

I am tired of these people, this malarkey.

whywhywhywhywhy ligma-2

[–] NapoleonBlownApart@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago

No, it's not rigged because reasons.

The voters have spoken even though there were no other candidates and they cancelled several state primaries after changing the rules for primaries starting so Biden would gain points

[–] Storm@hexbear.net 70 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

They could lock Joe in a replica of the Oval Office and he wouldn't know the difference.

I hate the Democratic party so much. They're giving the election to trump.

[–] jackmarxist@hexbear.net 37 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Democrats are Russian sleeper agents influencing American politics to get Trump on the throne.

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

The whole world is a Kremlin. There are women in it, men are all Russian agents.

[–] TemutheeChallahmet@hexbear.net 67 points 2 months ago (3 children)

This is a psychotic idea, literally running away from facing the reality of how little enthusiasm the base has for your candidate

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 61 points 2 months ago

"I'll lose a thousand elections to easily beatable republicans before I cede an inch to what the voters want, especially those disgusting unreasonable progressives"

[–] LocalOaf@hexbear.net 31 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think their rationale is they know Biden's completely cooked, Kamala's almost as unlikable, and nobody on their shallow bench wants to become the candidate knowing what a deep hole they're already in. Anyone who has the resume and positioning to be a potential replacement candidate that might actually have a chance against Trump is inherently going to be a careerist ghoul that doesn't want the blame of being the new captain at the helm of a sinking ship to land on them and ruin their chances of being the nominee in 2028.

[–] machiabelly@hexbear.net 19 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I think Obama got them addicted to having a candidate charismatic enough to get away with being conservative. Regardless of how charismatic or qualified or whatever, anyone could win the election by moving left. Offering things that everyone wants. I simply don't think the DNC values winning enough to offer those concessions.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 60 points 2 months ago

They're just giving up. No one wants to stick their neck out. Trump got shot at and had they took a hero photo of him after, and they think that's the end. Even though there's months to go, and honestly this event could probably be used to drive as much dem turnout (if Biden is not the nominee), since MAGA is going to he calling for peoples heads.

I called Biden as the accelerationist choice, and he keeps proving me right. Blue MAGA already existed but its a full on mirror now. Dems competely giving up on "the most important election EVER!!!!!" will hopefully get a some people to realize that this is all bullshit and dems are a deadend

[–] SteamedHamberder@hexbear.net 48 points 2 months ago

Bold strategy. Lock him in where?

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 47 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Man they are committed to losing aren't they?

[–] OperationOgre@hexbear.net 34 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

The way I'm reading it, the Biden Faction has three possible futures:

  1. Have Biden withdraw
  2. Keep Biden, lose the election
  3. Keep Biden, win the election

1 and 2 are bad for the Biden Faction because it means the end of their jobs. In the case of 1, the new candidate's Faction would replace them, and in the case of 2, they eat shit and they're muscled out by whatever Faction is currently performing the media coup.

3 is their only path to keeping their Beltway jobs which will launch them into cushy consultation gigs in the future a la the entire Obama administration, so they're going to fight tooth and nail to keep Biden even if the odds are stacked against him. The DNC won't really mind if he loses because then Biden acts as a Sin Eater for the genocide that Democrats have been committing in Palestine and they get to keep fundraising off of the new Drumpf presidency

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago

I think this sums up the calculations for the administration staffers very well

[–] TheModerateTankie@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I thought Biden had no chance until I saw this recent interview clip of Biden from the link below.

https://xcancel.com/Timodc/status/1813198083448078699#m

He's a like a new man. Clear. Confident. Concise. I understand exactly what he is saying. If there are any liberals lurking about reading this and feeling worried, just view the clip and put your mind at ease.

Jesus fucking Christ those replies

Libs are in a different reality at this point. Or maybe it’s just severe denial idk but they really don’t care what the average person thinks about Joe Biden’s brain giving out each time he’s asked a question

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago

Gotta say telling your entire voter base "fuck you" is certainly a novel electoral strategy

Let's see how it goes

[–] Black_Mald_Futures@hexbear.net 46 points 2 months ago

Boy i'm sure glad we have all these super delegates who could like prevent this from happening, that's what they're there for, right DNC? Right??

[–] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 46 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The only way to save democracy is through rigging. Holy shit us electoral politics is a fucking joke

r/politics thread

I found a comment that made me laugh

Entire DNC pulling an RBG.

At this point you have to admit it's a culture problem. There is a serious gerontocracy in the DNC, total unwillingness to let go and pass the baton to the next generation.

[–] TheModerateTankie@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

Biden refuses to pass the torch to Kamala because she once objected to him massaging her shoulders and sniffing her hair.

Less shooting themselves in the foot and more crawling into the loaded barrel of that huge rail-mounted WWI German artillery gun

[–] WIIHAPPYFEW@hexbear.net 21 points 2 months ago

He’s down to a ticket including a guy who’s friends with Curtis fucking Yarvin, just fucking RESIGN ALREADY

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 33 points 2 months ago

Why even bother with a convention at this point? They were already going to stream all the biting over zoom etc.

[–] TheModerateTankie@hexbear.net 32 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Finish the job! Of getting Trump reelected...

[–] LocalOaf@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

Master Joe, do you mind telling me what you're doing linjuring that battle box?

biden-ok-smart-guy Finishing this, you know, the thing

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 29 points 2 months ago

Is this the democracy we are supposed to be saving?

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago

Best of luck, hope you get the exact outcome you deserve.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh, this is fucking great. And very democratic.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 22 points 2 months ago

In Soviet Badcountry, the elections are illegitimate because the party selects all the candidates.

[–] Sickos@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

Much democractic. Very representative.

[–] NapoleonBlownApart@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm so goddamned sick of "quietly" this and "the quiet part" that. Jesus Christ, get a new word.

None of this is quiet. We are talking about all of the things going on all of the time.

[–] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 2 months ago

They need to be quiet so they don't wake Biden up during his naps.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 months ago

I swear they want to lose

[–] Wertheimer@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies

liberalism Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives, and I decline

[–] RaspberryTuba@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

This was always the plan because they scheduled the convention too late to get their nomination in in Ohio, and they don’t trust them to make an exception. Just now you’ve got the (probably dead) thrust to remove Biden on top of it. One of the recent trueanons covers it a fair bit, and I was trying to figure out when they’d do it the other day as they hadn’t actually scheduled it yet. (And still kinda haven’t.)

[–] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Running the clock is such a perfect analogy for this stupid spectacle. Never thought of it till now

[–] LocalOaf@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago
