but that's not really backing, that's legitimacy theater. a big enough faction has to back you to be a ~~candidate~~ nominee though

And? Allende was elected president and commander in chief and got disposed by his own general. Pakistan’s military sabotage Khan’s government. Titles are just words until you have influence. Trump has immense influence, but not enough to deploy troops to stop voters

Do you really think they would follow those orders? I don't, and I don't think Trump thinks that, or he already would have made that order.
