I played d&d in high school and thought I'd give this a try. I couldn't tolerate the Bard. Does he get less annoying at some point?

Are you saying his character develops and gets less annoying or just that his character develops and he continues to be annoying but it's worth it?

He gets less annoying and has good moments. But there are still moments where you’ll hate him for who he is which in my opinion is what makes his character good and interesting.
