Lemmy users, you can now vote for your favourite song in Lemmyvision's song contest, an Eurovision-like song contest, in which various instances submitted a song of their choice!

My sincere thanks everyone for your submissions, I have created a form where you can rank your favourite songs, it's available here :

➡️ Lemmyvision Voting Form - https://tally.so/r/nWNgKQ ⬅️

I'll leave the form open for a week and then collect the results!

Make sure to check each submitted song thanks to the playlists @Ategon@programming.dev has created:

Full list of songs:

  • 🇦🇺 Royel Otis - Heading For The Door (aussie.zone / Australia)
  • 🇧🇪 Puggy - Lost Child (!belgique@jlai.lu / Belgium)
  • 🇨🇦 Lu Kala - Hotter Now (lemmy.ca / Canada)
  • 🇩🇰 Pil - Dronning Af Månen (feddit.dk / Denmark)
  • 🇫🇷 Bagarre - ON EST LES MÊMES (jlai.lu / France)
  • 🇭🇺 Azahriah - introvertált dal (!hungary@lemmy.world / Hungary)
  • 🇬🇧 The Northern Boys - Sexy Train (feddit.uk / UK)
  • 🇦🇶 Casette Beasts - Your Inception (programming.dev / Programming)
  • 🇳🇿 Tiki Taana - Tangaroa (lemmy.nz / New Zealand)

You will be asked to rank the songs from your favourite to least favourite ; you may notice that users from specific instance cannot rank the song their instance has submitted, in order to keep things fair. Users from non-participating instances can still participate in the voting, and self identify as third party. Let me know if there's any issue with the form!

Enjoy! 🎶

This is my first time hearing of this contest and I love it! So many great songs submitted

Did no one tell the German instance about this? That instance is always populating my feed, you think they would've been all over this.

[-] freebee@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago

Germany always does so bad in real Eurovision, they just didn't wanna bother enter another one of those things I guess

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 1 points 2 months ago

And the Irish aren't involved for the opposite reason: they win too often. Might as well have two priests singing about a horse or something.

[-] federalreverse@feddit.de 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

There was a post asking for a song. I guess we failed to nominate someone..?

[-] Shyfer@ttrpg.network 3 points 2 months ago

Aawww. Because of the server troubles?

[-] federalreverse@feddit.de 1 points 2 months ago

Probably somewhat related to those but not the real reason. :/

[-] Zacryon@feddit.de 6 points 2 months ago

feddit.de is currently having server troubles. This has already lasted several days. :'(

[-] inlandempire@jlai.lu 3 points 2 months ago

I did make a post there and remember they responded positively but haven't heard from them since, feddit.de shows me a server error right now so I can't check :(

[-] just_chill@jlai.lu 3 points 2 months ago

We need to find a german to link to this post, everyone will be sad to have missed it and be there next time !

danke sehr, Lass sie richtig neidig werden !! Ich vermisse schon den Deutschen Eintrag.

[-] SorteKanin@feddit.dk 9 points 2 months ago

Voted! :D

The UK's entry really brings home the Eurovision feel with the "so weird I don't even know what to say"-song.

We aim to please.

Watching the video was great but watching reaction videos to it maybe even better!

[-] unionagainstdhmo@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

Yeah I listened to that and watched the video. Like wtf was that

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 3 points 2 months ago

It's our submission and even we aren't sure. We did feel like it summed up the state of the country quite nicely though.

[-] Jakylla@jlai.lu 7 points 2 months ago

Vote casted, good luck everybody!

[-] ghost_towels@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

Voted! Thanks so much for putting this on. And thank you for the playlists too, stoked for my drive tomorrow.

Thanks 🥰

Vote cast! Some hard choices had to be made, the pressure was immense. I may require a day off work tomorrow.

Can't wait to see the results! What a fun idea!

The inclusion of the non-country instance was controversial, but i think worked. Maybe to halt the 'special interest' instances taking over the competition from its original intent there could be a 10% guest instance carve out.

You could have the 'special interest' instances nominate themselves to participate, then use a random number generator to decide the included 10% guest instances for that year?

Haha same thing for me, it broke my heart to put some songs down the list, all of them were great!

That's a good idea, thanks for the suggestion, I'll think about how to spice up the format for the next edition

[-] Vincent@feddit.nl 5 points 2 months ago

Users from non-participating instances can still participate in the voting, and self identify as third party.

Only slightly disappointed that I couldn't indicate which third party, given that we didn't participate at !thenetherlands@feddit.nl this edition :)

[-] inlandempire@jlai.lu 2 points 2 months ago

True that, I should have checked if there was an option to specify, sorry about that!

[-] mckean@programming.dev 5 points 2 months ago

When and where do we get the results?

[-] inlandempire@jlai.lu 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Probably during next week, in this community, I'll make a post

[-] HejMedDig@feddit.dk 5 points 2 months ago

Thanks for creating the event!

[-] just_chill@jlai.lu 5 points 2 months ago

done ! it's pretty difficult to rank so many different styles, everyone send some nice things.

[-] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Agree. Personally Id prefer maybe ranking only my 3 or 4 favourites instead

[-] CommunityLinkFixer@lemmings.world 4 points 2 months ago

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !hungary@lemmy.world

[-] inlandempire@jlai.lu 5 points 2 months ago

Oops, fixed! Thanks bot :)

[-] maculata@aussie.zone 3 points 2 months ago

IM VOTIN FOR THAT SINGIN WOT GOES “OOOOOOOOFHH GGURUURRRGHUHUHUGGUGLKAAAH AAAAAAAARRGHGHH AAARGHJ OOPOPOERRVHHHG. AHRFHAHHHHHHHAAAASGHHG AGAAADHAJAHHAH BEEHHRE RCEVNEVROISBJIBREERERRRDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEDSSDDSDEEEEEEEEEEEEREDDEEEEEEERRRRR!”

THATS TEH FABOURITE.

[-] Jakdracula@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Damnit! How can I enter? Is it too late?

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 3 points 2 months ago

It has 6.5 days to go. The voting link is in the original post.

[-] Jakdracula@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

I have a song I’d like to enter for consideration.

[-] Ategon@programming.dev 5 points 2 months ago

The submission period ended and its currently in voting

[-] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Also it is the local communities that discuss and select a song to represent each group. You could have suggested a song to your local community and hopped that it got picked to represent your country.

[-] Jakdracula@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I would have if I learned about this sooner.

[-] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

There's always next year. There were a few requirements (must be sung i one of the countries official languages, must be from 20023, not an international hit already). I understand that this was a pretty impulsive setup so hopefully next year it will get more traction
