The French: Couleur

Let le fest commence!

[-] joneskind@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

I’m a 46 yo French dude and still throw an unexpected “Wazzuuuuppp” on phone from time to time just to keep that vibe going. It was as stupid as innocent. An hymn to my past youth and a rallying call for generations to come.

Wonder where we got it from…

Well, sometimes I wonder why half of Africa speaks French… so I get your point. Sorry for that…

There are other holidays when schools or some other establishments might be closed but banks are open.

Are they still called bank holidays or do they have another name?

[-] joneskind@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

I understand, but I’m kind of stuck by what’s implied. Like “money doesn’t make money today so everyone can stay home because the bank decides”

In France they are called “jour férié” from the old French “foirié”, literally “fair day”

As a French I only learned recently from a Londoner coworker how you call your national days off.

“Bank holidays”

Why?

Anyway, good luck from the bottom of my heart.

I wish my fellow Britts the very best in the outcome of those elections. And by best what I truly mean is left.

Kisses from France. We’re with you guys.

Don’t give Macron too much credit here.

He’s the one to blame for the far right’s victory with his same-same language, has he pushed the discourse that the left party is in fact a dangerous antisemitic far left party.

The left party was the first to pull out of races to let macron’s representatives win against the far right, even though it would cost them much more.

Macron is an absolute POS.

Marie Le Pew sounds way too nice for that POS

It’s Marine Le Pen, and her goon Jordan Bardella (who has Algerian origins from his grandmother but ignores that completely and prefers talking about his Italian origins from his grandfather)

palm oil.

Oh my sweet internet. Now I know what I'll put on display next time I'll get drunk with my friends. Thank you very much sir!

If I put oil in the fridge it gets solid

Same for honey, as cold accelerate the crystallization process.

Peanut butter is basically oil already, but putting it in the fridge might help keeping it less oily. I eat organic 100% peanut butter and it is often oily when I open it. I think that’s why some have palm oil in it.

Soy sauce should be salty enough to store out the fridge but I prefer to keep it in the fridge for some reason.

Oyster sauce contains sea food, so straight in the fridge!

What is that 5165m mountain? I've always been told that the Mont-Blanc was the highest mountain of Europe and now I'm confused.

EDIT: Ararat mount in East Turkey. Considered an Asian mountain on Wikipedia.

Je suis un peu surpris de le voir débouler ici, mais c'est vrai qu'il reste populaire en Corrèze. Par contre je me demande quand même si ça ne va pas faire plus de mal que de bien.

Votre avis ?

Hello everyone,

I would like to hide games that only support Windows, as I'll never buy any of those games.

Is there a simple way to do that? I found a checkbox in my account settings but it doesn't seem to have much effects.

Thank you very much and happy gaming

I love Lemmy so far, but the constant refresh of the feed in the homepage is unbearable.

I constantly click on the wrong links, get warnings from my browser that the website uses too much energy, the console is a constant flow of logs.

I thought it was a bug that would be rapidly fixed, but I'm beginning to fear it might actually be a (really bad) feature.

Please tell me a fix is coming, or there is a way to change that.

Hello Lemmies! French Trekkie here.

I tried to post this ages ago on the other site and wasn't able to do so. But I am the king of the World now.

So, about my post I guess I'm not the first to notice, but it genuinely came to me when I was taking a shower, and we are here for a fresh start, aren't we?

PS: I'm fine with the Britts invading France as long as you keep your food and your monarchy on your island.
