Right? I'd wear the shit out of those

[–] lapommedeterre@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Got these a few months ago, I'm in the US. Also picked up the other random apparel lol (socks, sweat pants, etc)

~~Aldi operates in Britain~~... although you could maybe find some for sale online

I'm a dumbass, Aldi are everywhere!

[–] Norgur@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago (3 children)

"Aldi operates in Britain"? Yeah... that's exactly where Aldi is from...

[–] Nougat@kbin.social 12 points 1 year ago

Aldi is "from" Germany. In the UK and US, it's Aldi Süd. Aldi Nord owns Trader Joe's.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldi

Wat ya joking? Aldi is a German company. They also own the American store Trader Joe's.

[–] Onionizer@geddit.social 3 points 1 year ago

Those are actually separate companies, Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd

[–] HeneryHawk@thelemmy.club 3 points 1 year ago

Don't know what I was thinking, I've been in Aldi a few times in Germany!!

[–] callyral@kbin.social 15 points 1 year ago (6 children)

if they didn't have the "Aldidas" text I'd wear them, the colors are pretty

[–] Psythik@lemm.ee 15 points 1 year ago

I want them because of the Aldidas text. That shit's hilarious

[–] stinkycheese@lemm.ee 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Good news is they didn't actually have the text on them. It's photoshopped. Bad news is I don't think they sell them anymore.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

This is all bad news

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

The Aldidas would 100% turn these into a purchase and a daily wear. Otherwise they're just some alright slides

[–] TheBurlapBandit@beehaw.org 3 points 1 year ago

I'd wear them because of the text tbh

Neither are these called Aldidas nor Adidums nor is Aldi from Britain?! Aldi is from Germany, as well as Adiletten are - that’s the name of the original shoes. So these are called „Aldiletten“.

[–] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago

Your aldidas are fake

[–] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

They are from Slovakia, they are called Adidums, and they have four stripes instead of three.

So for less money, I was able to get extra stripe.

[–] FlembleFabber@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Then why is there "aldidas" written on it?

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Text was added after. I own a pair of these and they do not say “Aldiddas” lol

[–] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

I would have guessed only a few people would remember a line from an obscure sketch from an obscure show from the 90s

[–] plactagonic@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 year ago

More stripes, more Adidas.

They look kind of pre-used.

[–] CarlsIII@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

I thought the Nick Aldis shoes would look better than that.

[–] smileyhead@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It should be "Aclidas" as "cl" looks almost like "d".

[–] XTornado@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's from Aldi so... they might want their name in there.

That said originally they didn't have the text somebody add it on picture so it's pointless to discuss it I guess.

Bro that would be a copyright violation, don't be crazy!
