I am in love with Boost and have used it religiously. Now I'm on Jerboa trying to get this Lemmy stuff to work, but I'm hopeful.

[–] xradeon@lemmy.one 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It would be awesome if Boost could be re-written to work with Lemmy, but I have doubts that would happen. This is probably a good time for new people to have their work shine though, I'm excited to see new apps made for Lemmy.

[–] randromeda@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

The UIs are similar to some extent so it might not be a bad idea to have the boost dev work on Jerboa

I love infinity! Easy to use and it doesn't push notifications all day to you check reddit all the time

[–] animist@lemmy.one 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Infinity is the only reason I had gone back to reddit. Not being able to use it is what initially drove me to the fediverse

[–] fernandu00@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Me too! And I like the decentralization thing

[–] animist@lemmy.one 5 points 1 year ago

Oh yeah I came for the "reddit alternative" and stayed for the decentralization

Infinity is the best FOSS app I've used for Reddit and supported Relay through purchasing Pro. As a UI/UX Designer, I admire everything these devs contributed for their 3rd party apps to user experience compared to Reddit themselves.

[–] gnuslashdhruv@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Infinity's one of the most attractive Reddit UIs around. I've been using it for a while, I didn't realize it was a FOSS app. Great to learn though!

[–] virtualfiber@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I just stumbled it upon FDroid's homepage by accident. I tried it, then I never used my Relay ever again lol. But I missed scrolling reddit by one hand using Relay, very convenient feature! I though I was going to miss r/fossdroid, but there's and open source instance here on lemmy also, c/opensource if you're interested.

[–] pwshguy@programming.dev 9 points 1 year ago

Might have to do with u/rmayayo not announcing or really saying anything

[–] frippa@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

God I will miss infinity, my account was banned for bogus reasons so the ability to sub to subs without being logged in was amazing, also love the interface

[–] XPost3000@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

Really hoping that Infinity comes to Lemmy, I love the app

[–] Nyxaion@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 year ago

I use Infinity. It's a bit different from what I used before, so I had to learn a few things, but now I like it. If Reddit gets rid of third party apps, or even old reddit, I don't know if I'm going to keep using it.

[–] Wahots@pawb.social 6 points 1 year ago

I'm riding Slide into the ground. I'll miss it. Jerboa is good but feels pretty crunchy still :(

[–] Countmacula@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

Slide has been abandoned for a while per the dev.

[–] Cargon@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago

Hits me right in the RedReader.

[–] notExactlyI20@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I really wish the Infinity dev considers working on the backend of the app to make it work with Lemmy. That's no easy task, I'm aware of that, but dreaming is free am I right?

[–] DarkwinDuck@feddit.de 4 points 1 year ago (4 children)

There's the Idea of making a lemmy API that's Reddit compatible. Meaning all Reddit client apps could migrate to lemmy with minimal effort.

I used Joey for reddit. It was incredible. Really sad to see it die

[–] shibadog@beehaw.org 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I was a Joey user too. I tried them all and nothing compared to the features and customization that Joey had.

[–] Dekthro@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 year ago

Same. It really had everything.

[–] eggnog@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 year ago (5 children)

I guess I'm in the minority of Relay users, I hardly ever see it mentioned anywhere. although it's not FOSS

[–] major_malarkey@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago

I didn't know how much of a minority we were until this happened. I love relay but have only seen the logo once in a post about 3rd party access.

[–] Amir@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

It used to be the 2nd biggest back in 2014-ish after RiF, but got slowly overtaken. I still use it to this day.

I don't know why nobody mentions RedReader. It's so much better than Infinity or all those closed-source pieces of shit that I wouldn't touch with a 10m stick.

[–] JonnyRobbie@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I've been playing around with Infinity but eventually stuck with Slide.

[–] Dekthro@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 year ago

I've been using Joey. Great underrated app.

[–] PanaX@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wow, a mention of slide? Incredible. There are dozens of us!

Is Infinity FOSS? Its my preferred client, but I had no idea it was open source. Would be great if it supported Lemmy.

I was surprised when I didn't see anyone talk about infinity

[–] const_void@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Infinity is great. Really hoping the dev refractors it for Lemmy.

[–] hamborgr@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

Infinity my beloved...

[–] neosheo@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I use infinity. Was a slider user (and loved it) but isn't slide dead?

[–] WhoRoger@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It hasn't been developed for a year but it works just fine for most people.

[–] daviddwk@midwest.social 3 points 1 year ago

Didn't even notice that slide is ded. Still my favorite.

[–] theory@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (5 children)

Just means its ripe for a fork and switching to lemmy

Edit: tempted to try, now...

[–] WhoRoger@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Slide for Lemmy would be awesome

[–] naeap@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

did the temptation win? ;-)

if you start a fork, I guess currently there are quite some people to contribute/join the effort

I'm holding myself back a bit, because daily work doesn't leave me with much free time at the moment - with not much change in the near future...

Sync is my client of choice.

[–] mook@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Infinity has been my go-to. Spending much less time on it though.
