Why would they let the truth stop them when they stole the Supreme Court and can just do what they want with near-impunity now?

The rulings this month are going to be bad, folks. And if you aren’t worried about the national level issues, take a look at what’s going on the gulf south. It’s wild west/medieval shit down here.

Louisiana just ~~brought back chemical~~ allows for surgical castration as a sentence for pedophiles. And what group do they call groomers more than any other? I’ll give you a hint: there’s a reason they continue to attack drag queens and the trans community.

Oh weird, the article I saw must’ve missed that (double checked and it says chemical). Hooray it’s even worse than I thought…

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Hell, they are calling straight librarians, teachers, professors, etc..."groomers" as well.

You're thinking about it all wrong. They're just trying to create the right set of conditions to produce the next Turing and kickstart the development of true AGI.

"Could threaten access" what a shit headline. They are already actively denying access in their controlled areas. This isn't a problem that's forming, this is a problem that is already here and already large.

Not even two years since Dobbs. "Oh, no, no - there's no threat to contraception" they said.

Republican lawmakers in Missouri blocked a bill to widen access to birth-control pills by falsely claiming they induce abortions. An antiabortion group in Louisiana killed legislation to enshrine a right to birth control by inaccurately equating emergency contraception with abortion drugs. An Idaho think tank focused on “biblical activism” is pushing state legislators to ban access to emergency contraception and intrauterine devices (IUDs) by mislabeling them as “abortifacients.”

[–] suzune@ani.social 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Why isn't the abortion ban restricted to Christians only?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

Indeed. The idea that a group doing "biblical activism" has any impact on others in a secular nation is horrifying. Not everyone is in their little book club, and not even all the people in their book club interpret it the same way.

If you are someone in their little group, don't get an abortion. Or contraception. And leave everyone else alone.

Conservative attacks on birth control could threaten access

Do they mean... apart from all the access they've already threatened?

Sounds like they got somebody from the "Treat-Israel-With-Kid-Gloves" department to write that headline.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

We have to be "objective" and, uh, "both sides", you know.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

Remember how the far right trolls, along with not a few Enlightened Centrists (TM), were telling everyone to just CALM DOWN in the wake of the 2022 decision by Trollito and friends on the corrupted court?

[–] MockingMoniker@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

That's the point.
