You need to create a collection and then you can use almost any extension (it's a pain in the ass to setup)

Mozilla is so stupid sometimes... It makes it feel like they are trying to discontinue all extensions.

I think quality assurance is harder, what with mobile operating systems arbitrarily terminating processes. But Manifest V3 should help here, I believe.

Idk, but I'm still annoyed that pressing the search bar at the top hides the tabs button

is it possible to get extensions on iOS Firefox?

I recall reading a while back that they're planning a massive overhaul with web manifest v3 and that would enable wider add-on support.

I'm not sure if Mozilla remembers they have a mobile browser most of the time. lol

They don't even work properly... Can't log into Bitwarden because the captcha doesn't show up

Interesting, I self-host a vaultwarden instance and the firefox add-on for bitwarden is able to talk to it just fine. I wonder if you did the captcha via the browser if the add-on would still attempt to prompt you for it

If you use Nightly or Beta you can use pretty much any addon with a few steps: https://www.ghacks.net/2022/10/20/firefox-beta-for-android-now-supports-custom-add-on-collections/

Firefox for iOS is locked into iOS bullshit. It’s basically just a skin for safari.

[–] jetsetdorito@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It used to be worse, before Apple also nerfed the engine for browser apps like this so they would perform worse than Safari

[–] HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

I remember that. Everything but safari was beyond shitty.

And users for accepting it. But Apple's users compromise a lot of freedoms in exchange for the benefits they percieve they're getting. My only concern is many Apple users don't actually know the compromises they are making as they're not technically minded.
