Going back to the Old Ways, but I'm having trouble finding up to date news links. Many lists seem to be outdated and crash into paywalls or are just broken.

Sign-up on https://www.inoreader.com and search on the site. It's still a freemium, so the basic functions are still free.

It depends on what you're interested in.

If you're into tech, I recommend this https://hnrss.github.io/

Someone on lemmy put me onto Improve the News, which also has an app. Links to various outlets and papers around the world, and is transparent about where the news comes from. Possibly the best I've ever seen.

Thank you for that, what a neat idea.

I looked up my local news stations, and most of them had rss feeds, sometimes even separated out by local/national or whatever. So I just started using one of those as my primary news source, then added a few more niche feeds for more specific things.
