"2 real friends"?
I've been at 0 real friends for so long that even the thought of socializing with anyone stresses me out.
I've got one that I treat like gold. They're a childhood friend that is a divorced alcoholic ex-con that went down the keto->carnivore->jordan-peterson->red-pill->gamer-gate pipeline, so not exactly a quality human. But I like to think I'm doing society a favour by keeping tabs on them.
I wish I had a better best friend, but I'm lucky to have even this one.
Honestly as long as your friend raises you up in life and doesn't drag you down, that's a good friend.

I think if you wait long enough he will kinda "grow out of it" if it can describe the process correctly. Just once in a while tell him about his wrong doings if he has them

Yeah definitely. I've started to see that process already. Kinda reminds me of when I was a more virulent atheist and wanted to debate everyone, and just generally be a nuisance.

Ooof tell me about it that something I've done and have had done to me. I used to think friends are something you have, then a mentor explained to me that friends are an investment and we need to invest our time and emotions into them alongside that terrible thing...being vulnerable...I hate good advice

Hobbies is usually one way to talk to people who you may become friends with often.
Too many people don't invest into their interests and finding like-minded individuals. There are communities for everything
"Real friends" as an adult means people you see more than once a year outside of work and family, who you can name and know the name of at least one of their kids.
Rule 1: don't fuck your friends.
Be a regular at a theme night at some bars
Maybe check out if there are any hacker spaces near you if you're more into crafting and making things

I truly don't understand how people have friend groups as adults. It was a pain in the ass to get my 6 friends (two separate groups of 3) together for my birthday with a month notice. One of those friends has a big friend group from high school and now that they're all around 25 they're starting to find out just how little opportunity there is to get 12 people together who all live in different places now, have partners, jobs, some even kids already.

Hey, someone else with the "Run" response! Understand exactly how you feel, though mine likes to spike out with some claustrophobia if it gets really bad.
What I wouldn't give to understand what the fuck is going wrong with the hardware up there, or at least to be able to afford getting help. At this point, I think I'd take being a Lith zombie over whats currently going on.
