Only issue I'm having is random timeouts, but I think that just a lemmy thing in general. Nice app
Boost For Lemmy
Community of the Android app Boost for Lemmy
Just got it installed and set up! Looks great!
If I had one complaint it would be that mod tools are missing. :( Or if they are there, I can't find them. :)
This look great! Was struggling with Jerboa for the last few days. I gave up and got into Tildes instead!!
This feels familiar!! ๐ Awesome
Loving it so far! I'm glad Boost is back! I have one problem, though! I'd love to pay to remove the ads but when I press Remove Ads I get a screen with a blue background and "Remove Ads" right in the middle of the screen but there doesn't seem to be a way to actually pay to have the ads removed!
Other than that, it works really well. Feels very responsive, too!
Wondering if you plan to add swipe left from the right side of the phone to go back to the last/prior comment page
It's great, I bought ad free just for your efforts. But 2 problems so far:
-
error on uploading any image of any dimensions in any sublemmy.
-
can't see the videos, not in preview Mode, nor in full-screen Mode.
What can i/we do?
Very nice. Within five minutes of using it I've removed other Lemmy apps from my phone.
It would be nice to have something that guides you through finding communities in other servers as I don't feel like I'm seeing them all.
When adding images to my profile (both my profile pic and my banner image), they get rotated 90โฐ counter-clockwise.
Is there an option for the comments where I can just long-press to select and copy text instead of needing to go into a copy menu and then using the select text option? That can be bit tedious, and I typically copy most longer comments and send them to my voice-aloud app for TTS. It's definitely the main feature I miss about the old RIF app - easy text selection and perfect Bluetooth keyboard/mouse support.
Bug/Issue Report:
Been noticing a couple minor things over the past couple days.
-
When clicking the tray notification for messages, it sends me to the mentions part of my inbox not the unread part.
-
Refreshing a profile, or inbox, is inconsistent. Often I need to pull down multiple times for it to update and even then sometimes the update is still older than what's current, requiring more pulls. For a profile this can mean not showing current posts or posts with incorrect comment/score. For inbox this means disappearing messages or not knowing you've got a new one.
-
Speaking of inbox, if I mark a message as read it'll stop any notifications or badge counting. However the message will still occasionally "light up" like it's unread. Doesn't reactivate any notifications, and the app seems to know it's not really new, but it does happen.
Feedback:
- I'm guessing this will be added later, but at the moment you can't edit titles of posts with the app. If I click edit it just says mark nsfw or delete.
Otherwise I love the app like I loved old boost. The only other thing would be themes but that isn't even remotely important this early in development.
Loving the app! I'm having trouble swiping away media. It doesn't feel sensitive enough and usually takes me several swipes. I've enabled the tap to close which works amazingly but muscle memory wants to swipe.
Recommendation/Hope: it would be amazing to have a media peek where I can tap and hold on a thumbnail and it enlarges the picture. Awesome app, thanks!
So far it feels solid to me. Thanks so much for your hard work
I have never used boost for Reddit but I am posting from it right now and first impressions are IT IS AWESOME! An easy ad free purchase from me!
Is is possible to opt out from comments notification on own posts? I didn't find the checkbox as I used to have in the old reddit app.
It's a great start!
I'm excited to switch over and will definitely report any wonkiness.
Not sure if it's Boost or YouTube Revanced at fault but got the following error when I tried to open a Lemmy link to a video: https://postimg.cc/q6sW77x0
Also, the sign-up journey is a bit confused. Clicking sign up takes me to joinlemmy, which then just lands me on a home page for whichever instance I click. Might be more user friendly to prompt for a choice of instance and take them directly to that instance's sign up page. And maybe have a button for "not sure? Explore here" or something similar that would take you to joinlemmy
Being taken to the instance that just selected makes pretty firm logical sense to me, personally. Is the sign up process/path uniform across all instances?
The few I checked were, but not sure if the path is defined as part of the Lemmy protocol.
Images are able to be posted in comments. Ability to press and make them bigger would be useful.
Understood would be difficult with the press to collapse feature.
A minor ui glitch(?)
When scrolling through posts I noticed that occasionally the post summary would slightly scroll up cropping the first line in the summary.
After playing with it for a few minutes, I can reproduce the behavior by pressing on the summary, holding the press and dragging left or right, continuing to hold the press and dragging up or down.
It seems I tend to scroll with a slight diagonal motion instead of a pure up and down motion.
Screen shots showing the glitch: The post in godot@programming.dev, the "hey guys..." line gets scrolled off screen with the "diagonal scroll motion"
