Stuff like this deepens my impression that all advertising should be burned in a fire.

I know that's impractical, but the damage it does to society is hard to stomach.

At least this stuff is encouraging girls to try and attain a healthy weight, unlike today’s tits on a stick advertising…

[–] Jayjader@jlai.lu 27 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I dunno. For some people, a healthy weight is "skinny". For others, it's "voluptuous". Trying too hard to attain an "unnatural" weight is unhealthy, no matter which "direction" you're trying in.

Ads like this one blanket all women as needing a certain amount of "tits", otherwise men wouldn't be interested in them. Without getting into how bad it is to have women care about their weight because of what some men will think instead of for their own health's sake - lesbians see ads also and should also care about their health despite not caring one bit how attractive they might be to men.

This ad was post-depression, where getting enough to eat while growing up was a huge problem.

Edit: not to say the advertisers weren't playing on insecurities That's SOP for advertising.

I don’t disagree with you at all. My comment was intended to be more tongue in cheek…

This is just nutritional yeast, isn't it? It's healthy and tastes good... This is the first time I've heard about it being used as weight-gain powder, though.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 months ago

I shudder to imagine how much nutritional yeast you'd need to consume to gain weight..

Damn and here I was thinking maybe you editorialized the title, but nope, they really printed that

If everyone with no sex appeal stopped having sex for a hundred years, everyone would have sex appeal afterwards.

Turns out the real issue to cure is loneliness. What kind of fucked up food do I gotta ingest for that?

Edit: My statement only makes sense with a singular perspective of course. People don't really agree on what's good looking.

Can anyone get me a pizza?

[–] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No No, you must bring the pizza to the opposite sex! You hold up the pizza box like a lure and reel them in!

[–] Mango@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I prefer regular sex.

Ironized yeast... there is ALWAYS some miracle shortcut scam, isn't there, preying on insecurities and anxieties, leaning on them. This is one I'd never seen before.

We should bring back the word "vamoose".
