If I remove Edge, Will there be any consequences?

Flashback:

I removed edge and onedrive using Chris Titus Tech's Winutils. In the tool itself they mentioned that removing edge is not recommended. But I did it anyway.

Now for some reason, my library folders (music, videos, etc) reset to their original location. ( I changed it to a custom location).

All I have to do is change it back to custom location. ( No data loss happened).

But what I want to know is that, Are there anymore consequences that I am not aware of?

I know this post is old, but I recently found an unexpected consequence. I used to install the Netflix program on my computer because it had surround sound support that isn't available when you access Netflix through a browser. I stupidly installed the program was through the Microsoft Store, which updates programs without asking. Netflix changed the program to just be a front end to Edge, so one day it just wouldn't open and it took be a fair while to sort out the reason.

Since the only reason I had the program installed was to get surround sound support, and that's not available in the browser, I uninstalled the no-longer-useful shell of a program, and kept Edge uninstalled. Now I don't have surround sound, giving one more reason to cancel my Netflix subscription.

Thank you.

I neither have surround sound support nor use Netflix app and MS Store. So, I guess it's not a problem for me.

Yes, some apps rely on edge to render an auth page, something I discovered this week with a debloated clean install with no edge, I could not connect bambu slicer to my 3d printer as the login page is rendered using edge, for the way I use my printer this is a must for me so had to install edge. It was worth noting that it was no obvious at first what was wrong as the app simply had no loging buttons visible and took a bit of digging to figure out the issue.

That was because CTT WinUtil and other scripts also remove WebView2.

That can be installed separately to restore the functionality.

For anything that uses Edge directly, there is MSEdgeRedirect.

Idk about other scripts but Winutils remove everything but do provide an option to install Webview2.

Thank you, I'll look into it.

I find it quite stupid to rely on a particular browser instead of whatever the default browser is.

Even the need to have this conversation is infuriating.

The only problem I've had is an installer for a slicer would not work for some reason without edge.
