The cases that turn your phone into giant silicone shapes. Like a massive ice cream cone or hello kitty

[-] JaxiiRuff@pawb.social 17 points 11 months ago

One time while I was working I saw someone with a case that was this massive brick that had spikes all over it. I asked them why it looked like that and apparently it was so they wouldnt lose sight of it or misplace it. I guess thats why people have the huge cases.

Have you seen the Arceus phone case? It's amazing

My son loves LEGO. He built a pretty large enclosure for his smart phone out of LEGO Technic parts. It barely fit in his pocket.

Colorful, ugly, ingenious, conversation starter.

The cases that turn your phone into a sharp-edged rectangular prism are dumb as hell!

Cocomii Square iPhone 13 Pro Case - Slim Silicone Luxury Cover - Matte Soft Touch with Microfiber Lining (Antique White) https://a.co/d/afDhBbz

[-] treadful@lemmy.zip 9 points 11 months ago

Was hoping it would be sharper and more prismy.

[-] lowmane@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Seriously, it was neither of those. Either different English or an ad.

[-] Vupperware@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

It’s definitely a rectangular prism, and how would this be an ad? I admonished the case and only dropped a link when prompted.

[-] weew@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 months ago

That's actually a nice design. First, it's silicone, so it's soft and not sharp at all. Plus the extra material in the corner provides some extra drop protection without giant bulky corner cushions.

[-] Vupperware@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

You’re right! Most of them aren’t silicone though. Hard plastic

I bought an Ali Express Love Mei brand metal case for a phone I had. It probably tripled the weight of the phone on top of making it significantly larger.

[-] LemmyFeed@lemmy.world 57 points 11 months ago

I mean if it tripled the weight then one could assume it made it heavier...

[-] Aurenkin@sh.itjust.works 34 points 11 months ago

Probably just clarifying that the mass was increased as well. Pretty important as the weight could increase independently of mass if for example the phone was taken to a new planet with stronger gravity after the phone case was installed.

[-] burntbutterbiscuits@sh.itjust.works 12 points 11 months ago

That’s most likely what happened

[-] weew@lemmy.ca 1 points 11 months ago

Maybe it incorporates some Element Zero and the Mass Effect altered the local gravity

[-] CorrodedCranium@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 11 months ago

My bad. I meant it more as it taking it to another level of heavy. I used to place most of the weight on my pinkie when scrolling through sites like Reddit but it was so awkward afterwards I had to use two hands and I couldn't wear it with shorts or sweatpants because it would cause them to fall down

[-] ArbitraryMary@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Not necessarily the most ridiculous.. but anything with something stuck on the back so it can’t lie flat. Like those rings that double as a stand. I’d be so annoyed if I had to put my phone face down all the time.

[-] IthronMorn@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

My case won't let me set my phone flat. It drives me crazy.

[-] deegeese@sopuli.xyz 8 points 11 months ago

Girl with that case eat hot chip and lie.

My own, my battery pack case turns my phone into a brick.
