You knew that Canada had the recipts when Trudeau went public with it. He's not prone to causing friction between countries for no reason.

India is trying to be Saudi?

[–] xuxebiko@kbin.social 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Modi could be trying to become Mister Bone Saw 2.0

Look up the massacre he presided over.

[–] xuxebiko@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

those in the past ? or the one he's presiding over presently?

When he was governor of an Indian state. Maybe Gujarat? I can’t remember and am riding motorcycle as I type this.

I really hope you're a passenger...

Please don't text and ride. Being in a motorcycle wreck really sucks - I know from experience. Informing people about this is important but so is not being in the trauma ward.

I was jumping Snake River Canyon; all good.

You are talking about the communal anti-Muslim pogrom in 2002, Gujarat, when Modi was the Chief Minister.

Thank you for correcting!

It's a bit of a shame they weren't able to arrest anyone for it.

[–] holiday@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nothing to say they won't. When world powers are concerned you want to make sure you get it right.

There's zero chance the people who did this are still in the country. They would have been on a diplomatic flight that same hour.

[–] leaskovski@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What would actually happen here though? India will just say it wasn't them regardless... Nothing will actually change, exactly like when the Russians got outted for poisioning those people in the UK.

[–] stown@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Likely will get used as a political tool / bargaining chip in the future. They won't destroy relationships but will certainly be used as leverage.

given the large numbers of Storm Shadow missiles hitting the Russian Fleet HQ in Crimea -- and killing the head of fleet ops and his staff -- it sounds like the UK is getting theirs. Just took a little while.
