I have not even heard about this before now.

Yeah. I saw a commercial for it yesterday. That’s all I ever heard about it.

[–] Starb3an@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I always forget about commercials since I never watch TV. Then again ads are basically the same thing.

CalArts Style + Gimmick setting = I'll watch it in 5 years after it's canceled when I'm stoned with 6 hours of spare time

I don't mind the art style per se, it's the animation style I'm sick of. We have crazy good technology and shit is still animated like some super advanced flash animation. There's no more emotions and intentions behind the strokes of the brush like before. The line work is just consistent and bland.

Can't really blame the animation style, IMO. Most of these cartoons are produced under what are essentially sweatshop conditions in South Korea, and getting fine details and real artistry can very quickly pass the point of diminish returns. Animators and creators usually have a lot more time to develop the character models and the general look of the show. If the picture from the post thumbnail is from the show, then I'm saying that it looks incredibly uninspired and lazy.

I think you might of accidently glared into a mirror.

Literally the first time I've ever heard of this.

A 1.2 rating sounds bad ...

[–] bjorney@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same. But 1.2 means 1.2% of people in that age group watched the show, so it's actually pretty high

It's been awhile since I watched Fox animation but I already love the show. It seems to be set in Greece around 1000-800 BCE. It features a guy trying to set up a city and a wider civilization but the greek gods keep interfering and bickering among themselves.

Matt Berry is a one-trick pony who plays the same character in every damn show.

And it's hilarious.

Oh and to think I would have been mad all because “you once went to Iran!..”

So, tell me about this renwick customer

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I think a little Matt Berry goes a long way.

Like all Harmon projects this will be good for 2 to 3 seasons before be gets bored and hands it over to the B team to ruin.

[–] EnderMB@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Dan Harmon is a piece of shit, but the man is pure TV success.

[–] totallynotarobot@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

If this is not an Edna Krabapple spinoff I'm gonna be disappointed.

[–] aesopjah@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

It's pretty okay

I’ve been really curious about this show. It has 2 of my favorite British guys.

[–] Mandy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

this literally exactly the same as every other "adult comedy" show of the last 10 years

[–] hightrix@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

This is about the broadcast? Oh so it is basically meaningless. The target audience for this show doesn’t watch broadcast tv.

Looks like some shitty Bitmoji Snapchat story
