Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

You do know this is a star wars meme community and Sarek is in the star trek universe?

Or is this some new meta meme that the kids are doing?

Oh, balls. Okay now it's in the right universe.

I only just saw this post. Did OP edit in Han Solo and swap out the photo in response to your comment?

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

OP did. Erroneously originally posted a Sarek meme.

I think that's part of the joke lol

I know a lot of people really dislike camping but I have trouble relating to it. What’s so miserable about being outdoors? Yes you make some sacrifices on bathroom facilities but you gain so much from being out in the wild. There’s nothing like that fresh smell you get emerging from your tent in the morning, or the pleasure of looking up at stars through the smoke of your campfire. It’s a real shame when kids never get to camp because their parents can’t rough it. Kids fucking love camping.

Swarms of bugs make it a lot less enjoyable, at least for me. There's nothing like seeing someone's back entirely covered in mosquito bites just because it rained a couple days earlier. I've read it's only expected to get worse with the progression of climate change, especially when it comes to invasive species.

I guess there's DEET and permethrin, but I don't feel great about having to use those.

That makes sense. It’s rarely that bad out here on the west coast but I understand from others that some regions are insufferable.

Being outdoors? Not much. Sleeping outdoors...?

Last year I was like "camping in summer, I don't need a thick blanket" then winter came for 1 night 🥶

[–] johannesvanderwhales@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Rookie mistake.

Camping in Idaho/Wyoming/Montana (Yellowstone): Summer 10:00-22:00, Winter 22:01-09:59.

Try camping when it rains the entire time. There was almost a mutiny.

Fun sleeping in a tent with an inch of water on the bottom.

This seems like a missed opportunity to use a still from "I know" followed by a still from immediately after he's thawed out.
