June Jordan, born on this day in 1936, was a queer Jamaican-American author, feminist, and educator whose works include Some of Us Did Not Die and Report From the Bahamas. "Poetry is a political act because it involves telling the truth."

In her writing, Jordan explores issues of gender, race, capitalism, privilege, immigration, and representation. Jordan was passionate about using Black English in both her writing and her classroom, teaching her students to treat Black English as its own language and as an important outlet for expressing Black culture.

As a professor at Berkeley, Jordan founded the "Poetry for the People" program in 1991. Its aim was to inspire and empower students to use poetry as a means of artistic expression.

Although not widely recognized when first published in 1982, Jordan's essay "Report from the Bahamas", has since become an important work in gender studies, sociology, and anthropology.

"Poetry is a political act because it involves telling the truth."

I am so fucking annoyed at Reddit I am feeling a level of bloodlust previously unimaginable, i want a reddit admin to die and for me to wear their skin as a fucking trophy

I got a temp ban on one account over bullshit, a second account got PERMANENTLY BANNED because the other got a TEMP BAN (what the fuck) and because I used a VPN to use my third account IT'S BEEN SUSPENDED DUE TO "SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR" AND DEMANDS I RESET MY PASSWORD BUT GUESS WHAT I DON'T HAVE A FUCKING EMAIL ON THAT ACCOUNT SO HOW DOES THAT FUCKING WORK YOU FUCKS

Like what the fuck IS THIS, why does Reddit go SO FUCKING HARD like this but do LITERALLY NOTHING about the actual spammers and bots and shit on there

Same shit got banned from politics and worldnews for calling lubs dumbshits then when i created a new account 6 months later got instantly permabanned.

Seems like it happened to a lot of people based on how outright fashy those communities are now.
