Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

From Nazis, homophobes, TERFs, and white supremacists to name a few

[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No, banning Xitter won't really solve anything, they will just lose room and then migrate to sonewhere else, the only difference being that they probably won't be as loud as before and will call this "censorship".

It doesn't do anything about the Brazilian right, but cutting them off from the American right that Twitter has been prioritizing will have positive effects.

Update: Officially Banned!

24hr to be removed, 5 days for Apple/Google to remove from the stores.

The only wtf is going on is the 50k real in fines for any who tried to access it with VPN.

[–] yum@lemmy.eco.br 8 points 2 months ago

Unrelated maybe? The plural of 'real' in Brazilian Real is 'reais'

Bluesky is waving.

But the Savior of Humanity took time out of his very busy day in the Science and Futurology Factory to post a le epic LLM picture of the judge in jail. Checkmate. smuglord

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

Saying this guy is off his rocker is an understatement

[–] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Patiently waiting for "Xandão" to smite down that shit hole.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 months ago

Big Xando, take my energy

[–] Alisu@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

it stopped wortking around an hour ago, people are moving to bluesky it seems. Mastodon instances had a bit of a spike of users, but it seems to be smaller

I personally feel scared of where the extremist people will go after they won't be able to acess it. That website was probably the only thing keeping them in containment.

By the way, how and why did Hexbear users made Lula a usable emoji?

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

We have a pretty extensive emoji collection here. A better question is why you DON'T have a Lula emoji?

[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 4 points 2 months ago (3 children)

My instance doesn't seems to have the "custom emoji" feature. 😕

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

I think it was actually something worked on independently here and hooked into Lemmy. It is a consistently popular and heavily used feature.

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Well I think you know what is to be done don't you?

[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No, I don't, what is it? /genq

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 2 months ago

No, I think that I'll pass. Thank you for the suggestion, though! 🙇‍♂️

[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 2 months ago

Nice profile picture though!

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

keeping them in containment

"Containment" didn't work for /pol/ and it doesn't seem to be working for Le Epic X Dot Com either.

[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well, then I will await for the worse… (I don;t know what happened at /pol/ but I can imagibe it)

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I don;t know what happened at /pol/

"Containment theory" was tried there, in the most rancid and fermenting pit of fascism on the already fascist-leaning place known as 4chan.

It was a failure from the start and only concentrated the infestation to the rest of the site.

[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 2 months ago

Damn. Thank you for the explanation.

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So beyond banning what else can be done?

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

Deplatforming works.

Heard about Milo Yiannopoulos lately?

There's a reason why not.

[–] Alisu@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They have been present in many places already, specially whatsapp and telegram, ultimately, nothing changes, they just lose one place. Maybe they try bluesky/mastodon and probably get banned.

[–] P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br 4 points 2 months ago

I hope they do get banned

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

They can go wherever, as long as it's away from the public
