I wouldn't say 0 issues as I have occasional clipboard issues with XWayland apps or KWin crashing results in loss of work. I also find my HP Anyware PCoIP performance to be slightly downgraded compared to X11.

However, the upsides, such as multi-refresh rate and what feels like smoother performance on my RX 6900 XT (home, Tuxedo OS) and Vega 56 (office, KDE Neon) far outweigh it.

AMD cpu, nvidia gpu, running tuxedo os. i've had one issue and it was warthunder and enlisted not capturing the cursor correctly. this is caused by those games supporting linux natively but not having wayland support yet. no other games have done this for me so far.

yup. ever since the explicit sync update from nvidia i've had zero problems on wayland.

I would say it's mostly smooth except for a few annoyances like lots of apps not displaying icons correctly in taskbar or taskswitcher but a standard Wayland icon.

I have been using Sway for ~2 years now without issues. AMD CPU and GPU. I am not super particular about input lag and stuff, but I haven't noticed any issues.

I have a VM that runs windows for my work stuff and it has no issues I play video games via proton without issues either, other than having to muck around with a few titles launch options to unset my SDL video driver I stream to twitch periodically when I am bored and it works well by using the obs vkcapture plugin

Not a single issue with Intel + Wayland + Fedora + KDE.

I wouldn't say no issues, but nothing like what some people are complaining about. I only have one major issue in my opinion.

Yes, Plasma 6 was the turning point for me, since it introduced pixel-perfect fractional scaling on Wayland for just about every application.

Unfortunately no. I mean for the most part it works pretty well (Plasma 6) but I do have a couple consistent issues.

1. On my AMD gaming laptop it has some weird video static artifacts occasionally when running on the laptop screen that don't exist on external screens. But I know that it it isn't a problem with the screen, because it happens on two different laptops with the same CPU/ GPU combination.

2. A slightly more serious issue on my work laptop which uses an old Nvidia MX-series GPU, and if I'm using an external screen, Wayland crashes if the screen goes to sleep.

But other than those issues, it's been pretty good.

I've been running Plasma 6 + Wayland since the packages went live in the Arch repos and have had zero issues. I was already running Wayland sessions in Plasma 5.2x with only a few minor annoyances. On AMD hardware.

It works just fine on my laptop - Intel, openSUSE

It mostly works fine on my desktop - Nvidia, endeavourOS

Since the explicit sync fixes, the only problems I have are janky scrolling in Firefox / Librewolf and a couple of bugs with panels. They are annoying enough that I use X11 on the desktop.

intel gpu ones work well but nvidia is pretty much hell

I randomly get locks ups when I am watching YouTube while using touchscreen, but otherwise it's fine.

I am using openSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland and I have Intel GPU.

Only issue I have is that custom overlays are hard to impossible to get working. Which is a security feature I'm sure, but still is annoying. I tried for a while to get AwakenedPoeTrade running, but eventually gave up.

But everyday use, not a single issue (that I'm not blatantly responsible for myself, at least)

Been using Plasma Wayland for a few years now with minimal issues.

The only issues I had were due to fractional scaling (blurry apps, especially Electron based ones; and windows opening or moving to weird edges, where I can't move them anymore).

But those were already a few months or a year ago, and since I switched from Gnome to KDE 6, I have zero issues, neither on my laptop (integrated on CPU), nor on my desktop with an AMD GPU.

And even over a year, almost two, ago, Wayland has been very smooth for me. I used Gnome for most of the time, which has always been very solid with Wayland. KDE has been a bit more janky in the past, but nowadays, Wayland feels way smoother and polished than X11 for me.

I tried it on a new Lenovo (AMD). The cursor size changed its size from normal to microscopic, depending on the application you hover over. Went back to X, no issues there.

Still can't run Wayland on my system (Nvidia) at all.

I got a HP Elitedesk 800 G4. This thing came with an integrated Intel card and a AMD one. With the Intel one it works fantastic. With the AMD one, bleh. I disabled in on the BIOS as I use this with a thunderbolt display, so it's been like two years since I tried it.

I have zero issues whatsoever, even on Nvidia. Even before the 560-series driver, my issues were slim to none. I've been exclusively on Wayland since Plasma 5.22, and even before that with GNOME, just because it's astronomically more smooth visually

Yeah no issues either really. Pipewire has had more than Wayland for me.

Yeah, portals and all. But I just use modern applications, and am kinda lucky that the only Electron app I need with that feature (Signal Desktop) supports it.

Btw, XWayland is a huge part. I force nearly all apps through Wayland now, and already had some major issues. I switched from VLC to Celluloid for that (never regret that)

There are issues with some games for sure. You'll tab in/out at the wrong times (usually loading screens) and this guarantees Wayland will crash and restart the session. But at least it gracefully dies and comes back, never had it freeze on me.

EDIT: Playing MGS5 rn and the game froze when I tabbed, locked the entire system. Can't even switch to a new tty so I'm forced to reboot.

System: high end AMD on Nix with relatively latest pkgs from unstable branch

Idk how the majority of this thread can say Wayland is perfectly stable, it's plain disingenuous.

I've only been fully on Linux for about 4-5 months, but am yet to experience any issues on Fedora KDE with Wayland. Previously while I was distrohopping I was having a bit of a rough time but since settling on Fedora and with Plasma 6 it has been smooth sailing.

I'm using an AMD 5700X/B550m and RX 6700 XT. Also with two mismatched 1440p displays (different refresh rates).

Have not touched X11 since the proper Wayland support in the Nvidia drivers and Plasma 6. Its been super solid.

I am not having issues at all with Wayland, even game on it. Using a fairly new Nvidia card, after version 555.x was released, Wayland no longer has any flickering like visuals for me.

The only AMD (A10-7700K) that has given me problems with wayland uses by default the old radeon driver. I switched to the amdgpu driver and everything was solved.

It has been pretty unproblematic on two of my devices (a mini PC with integrated AMD graphics and a laptop with integrated Intel graphics). On the third (a desktop with NVIDIA graphics), I had an issue with Firefox's window flashing while I typed, so I had to switch that one back to X11.

I had severe issues when running an NVIDIA card, but after trading that in for AMD I've only had minor issues. Nothing major, and certainly nothing worth losing good fractional scaling to avoid.

@penquin It's been pretty solid for me on X86_64 laptop (Radeon graphics) and laptop (Intel graphics.)

It's a little quirky on Raspberry Pi. It seems to work well on my Pi 5 (RpiOS) but on a CM4 running Debian some apps like Firefox and VS Code have scrambled displays on KDE. I run Gnome on that one and that generally works. Surprisingly X11 is worse.
