My friend gave me a milk box they snatched from a highschool. My 24yo ass drank that box in the middle of New York happily. Tickled a core memory. No one cared.

This! The reason milk isn't "socially acceptable" to drink around in public is because milk isn't really something that is commonly in a portable form factor. If you see someone drinking a milk carton in public it's no different than seeing someone drink a juice box or a can of soda, or a can of beer. Except milk cartons aren't really too commonly available at any gas station.

cause milk is a horrifying product of rape and suffering while destroying our planet and alcohol is just a bit of drugs

"Alcohol is more socially acceptable to drink in public than a food produced by a mother cow for her baby." Wow what a revelation.

[–] Morhamms357@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It seems weirder when you say "A harmful poison that causes a slurred state and hallucinations when drunken is more socially acceptable to drink than milk", does it? Because you can make anything sound however you want people to feel by just twisting the words around.

[–] norawibb@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

It's not twisting words when its true. If I had to drink the poison or milk from an exploited mother, I'm choosing poison.

Ah, I sure do love the block feature on this platform. Just one click and deranged shit like this is filtered out forever.

Milk as a food item would be fine if it wasn't for our ridiculous population, where the only way to get it to the masses is through fkd up farming practices. Alcohol is also not safe from the same type of criticism. It takes water to grow the plants to make the alcohol. Water that is not renewable. Not to mention it is highly addictive and can cause death from ocerconsumption, doing dumb shit while drunk or while detoxing. Is that worth the resources that go into it? I dunno.

Tbh. I think we're damned if we do damned if we don't in almost every sense as a species. I try not to be a doomer, but damn do I hate people FTMP.

You shuldnt drink neither of those anywhere.

[–] Resistentialism@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

However. If you combine them. You'll have a great night.

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I started substituting oatmilk in mine, and it turns out to be not so bad. Basically my one use for Kahlua.

But milk tastes great in coffee D:

[–] icepuncher69@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Gonna sound hooky pooky but you shouldnt drink coffee neither, i know im boring like that ):, but i hear that it can affect your nervous system and is higly adicitive. I have a cousin that once got a nerveous breakdown from drinking to much coffe, and while she probably had other issues that caused that, coffee was one of them.

Edit: remmoved a mix up on coffe and energy drinks.

[–] HRDS_654@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

This is potentially misleading and dangerous as drinking too much caffeine in general is bad for you. The average person is fine with one or two black coffees a day, but energy drinks have two to three times the amount of caffeine per serving. I say this as someone who had a nervous breakdown at work from too much coffee AND almost gave myself a heart attack from energy drinks when I was younger. Caffeine is fine in moderation as is any regulated substance, but it is much easier to consume too much caffeine from an energy drink. This isn't even taking into account the extra sugar that energy drinks have in them.

[–] icepuncher69@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

True, sorry for the mix up, gonna change that. All that i was trying to say is that is very adictive. Dont know why i compared it to an energy drink since those are worse in every way.

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Even as a coffee drinker, yeah, I can generally agree. It’s very easy to drink more coffee than is really healthy for you.

Not if you add trace amounts of coffee to it.

[–] darcy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

good! milk is nasty

[–] ChillPill@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Its so hot out. Milk was a bad idea

[–] Peruvia@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Unless you drink from the tap. Can we normalize doing whatever you want as long as it's not hurting anyone?

[–] ImplyingImplications@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)
