it does drain the battery. less coverage too. probably alright for tethering if you have a good signal and a power source. i keep it off most of the time. LTE works much better.

my experience so far: i live far from actual 5g coverage so i dont notice any battery drain, however if i turn preferred network to 4g instead of 5g my phone overheats.
Feel like 5g is a disguise for 4g
