Tankies announcing they won an argument after they finished making claims without evidence and then deleting the comments of the other person.

How do you delete someone else's comments? Were you arguing with an admin?

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Check the Lemmy.ml mod log...

[–] Ziglin@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I had no idea people were doing that lol.

I remember people on reddit cancelling themselves with a comment and when I checked their post history they all had many downvotes.

[–] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Honestly that just means you won twice

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Better than them going through it trying to figure out where you live and what your identity is.

The nice thing about YouTube is that that isn't possible.

It's a dumb feature that should be opt-in.

You used to be able to prove it too via kbin. It was very interesting having a supposedly cordial convo just to see that same person crawl your comment history downvoting everything.

You know if online arguing and down voting make them happy I guess

None of the affixed features to social media do much for me when their entire purpose is engagement farming for the most part.

So I can be right and they can fulfill their dopamine filled social media binge.

You love to see it

win lol. discourse is about discovery and the search for truth. The most valuable arguments for me are when someone genuinely changes my mind.

[–] GrammarPolice@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Maybe win isn't the right word. Although you get the point

oh yeah. I only downvote to straight out spam after I report. like buy xyz drugs someplace or shit like that. (kbin had a bad ending)

You posting a paragraph of personal insults that doesn't get a reply doesn't mean you won the argument.

[–] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 5 points 3 days ago

Yes it does! You swab-swabbling underbelly of half-quantum inaebraeo-formongerable elephantine mouse poop!!1!
