The GDR was indeed a ray of light that was ultimately extinguished.
It went and stood on the opposite side. 
The day will come when all of Germany stands on the opposite side - by formally dissolving Germany and putting the nightmare to an end 
Last I checked Germany had high hopes for a Harris win, so you go ahead and do the math.
