Lemme know if memes aren't alright, I see that both the armed queers comm and this one (along with a bunch of other small guns comms) are basically just single poster communities, so I figured I'd crosspost to help contribute when I see something that'd be a good fit :)

I've got a WWII Japanese bolt gun and the action on that thing is just so dang smooth. If the kick wasn't so bad and the rounds weren't so expensive I'd be taking it to the range a whole lot more than I currently do. I really should add a lever gun too.

It's smooth because it's been fired 9000 times.

Mortal enemy of Guy on a Buffalo

I'll bet they meet in the center of town for a duel to the death. Ain't many towns big 'nuf for a buffalo and a bear >.>

Of dozens of guns, a lever gat is the one type I don't have. All I can afford are .22s. :(

[–] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I wasn't sure but it looks like they do actually make them in .22. I'm pretty broke too, I have no guns 😅 but that's okay, I wouldn't have much opportunity to go shooting right now anyway

I know that Henry makes them in .22 at least in the golden boy line. I assume they also do in lines that aren't specifically designed to be pretty/expensive.

But if you're going to get a .22, you might as well get a bolt action .22, since they're stupid accurate.

Huh, I don't think I knew that. I'd probably pick the lever just for funsies, but that's helpful to know, thanks for the tip! :)

I've hit a squirrel in the eye at 100 yards before with a .22 bolt action rifle.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Lots of .22 versions! By far the most affordable and I already have 8 or so .22LR and .22WMR pistols and rifles.

Big hype for the box magazine fed lever actions in development.

Oh snap, that sounds super cool! Like the other commenter, I'd also be curious to know more :)

What in the california?! That's pretty cool though who's making those?

Not Teddy Roosevelt enough for me.

Needs more moustache, and smiling eyes with small round glasses

.45-70 Government
.44 Magnum
.410 Shotgun

I agree... Although the 12 Gauge pump is also incredibly satisfying...

My guy's out here with the cowboy perk in New Vegas!

How do you like them? I've heard mixed takes on lever action shotguns, but they seem like an absolute BLAST (heh) to go skeet shooting with

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I don't know that .410 fully qualifies. :) Technicalities count and all that, but in my mind if it doesn't have a gauge... :)

67.5 gauge? LOL.

I've never owned a lever action rifle, but this is how I felt every time I was able to carry my friend's.

If I'm ever in a position to go hunting, I'd really like one as a hunting rifle, they seem like a really fun mechanism to operate
