Also, this one turned 30 this year, and it's still evergreen.

The best part is the republican crowd is cheering and the democratic crowd in booing lol.

People who don't organize don't realize they're the ones who have tried nothing.

[–] VinnyDaCat@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Even if you do organize, you need to do something with the people you've gathered together.

I've been a part of this small local socialist group for a couple of years now and sometimes I feel like we've tried nothing too. We're the same as everyone else. We have ideas but we don't really seem to act on them all that much.

Literally mental health. We got a school mental health person (forgot the proper name) who you could just go to. I never used it personally but I heard good things about it.
2nd year, now there's a waiting list. If you're having a breakdown and sobbing just wait 2 hours!
Year 3, now you have to go up in front of the entire class and scan a QR code. This is also when I was forced to go to her office while having a breakdown.

When I had a had the breakdown and was forced to talk to her it was literally an interrogation, and they legally have to tell parents you went.

Like am I insane for thinking it's crazy that parents get a phone call for that? What if the issue IS abusive parents?!

Back when my sister was in HS (~6yrs) they'd just go to one teachers spare closet and have 15 minutes to themselves before the teacher would check in and asked if they needed anything or wanted to talk.

I hate Florida. The worst part is when I go to collage next year I'm sure trump or desantis that will limit my education and freedoms there too..

School counsellor?

That's ridiculous, honestly. Students should have the same confidentiality rights as an adult getting counselling, ie they only disclose anything if they fear for your or someone else's safety.

teachers are there to serve the paying parents, they don't give a fuck about students (see: bullying)

First time we’ve had a blowjob princess in the Oval Office. The fellater in chief will surely improve things.

I can’t even joke about the future without waves of dread ripping through my core out to the tips of my extremities. Is it going to be ok? It doesn’t feel like it’s going to be ok.

Why, did the "non-DNC" part of America tried anything?

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

I mean one guy bought the biggest social media company on earth to help his side win

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 1 points 2 days ago

It is a two party system, go ahead throw your vote away.

And the Republicans seem to be doing too well if anything.

[–] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Don't absolve non voters of their dereliction of civic duty.

They're supposed to vote and pick the best candidate. By not even voting third party they've said theyre just fine with everything that comes.

I say give it to them good and hard.

And if you do absolve them of their bullshit, theyre going to continue to do fuck all every single election.

[–] LadyAutumn@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 days ago (14 children)

Cool. We can't control them, though, unless you've come up with a method of forcing people to vote. The democratic party campaign was supposed to get popular support. People were supposed to want to vote for them. That's the whole point of political campaigning. The democratic campaign was wildly unpopular on every single point other than "isn't Trump". They cozied up to fascist talking points time and again, border military and ethnic cleansing. She barely even campaigned on any progressive points. It was a joke of a campaign.

The democratic party has lost touch with reality. They will welcome fascists in with open arms. Those images won't ever be forgotten.

Why can't the stupid Yanks be more like Britain with Liz truss?

That's smart leadership from educated constituents.

[–] JPSound@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Some of us try our best. We really do. Unfortunately, we swim in a cesspool of idiots and at time it feels impossible to influence the tides of stupidity. It's embarrassing to me. It really is. Shameful and embarrassing.

[–] El_guapazo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

We also don't know how to read. But our votes all count the same. And that's the genius in the system.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

I would totally fuck Ned Flanders’ beatnik mod goth mom.

[–] Exatron@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Well, it's Trumphog Day... again.

[–] NeptuneOrbit@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

It's almost like maybe we could try a new political system. Whiplash was not intended but is now obviously the best case scenario.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Have we tried berating men yet? That might get us more votes. Maybe mention how not liking undocumented immigrants makes you racist? That'll get us a ton of support among the documented immigrants crowd.

I just feel like we really have to try and make sure we get the votes from people who were already going to vote for us

[–] davepleasebehave@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

they are fine. they are the hegemon at the moment. many of the underclass don't understand why they are suffering.

[–] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 days ago
