Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !letsnotmeet@sopuli.xyz

Post it as a comment here and we'll decide after

So my grandmothers sister went into the wheat drying room as she heard noises and assumed one of the kids had gotten in. Once in she hears a noise from within a closet, upon opening she discovers a man pointing a gun at her and she starts shouting. The man panics and shoots at her head. He then grabs her phone and starts running out but as he does everyone comes out of their rooms and theres a lot of panic. As he runs to the door within the panic me and an uncle grab our guns to chase him. He notices this and yanks my 7 yo cousin by the wrist with him and jumps over the wall with the kid and escapes into the fields and we couldn't find him.

A few hours later there's a ransom call to fork out 10 million and not to involve the cops. The father of the kid tells him its impossible to gather 10 mil in a hurry and later calls the cops. Next morning the dude calls again and agrees to 4 mil and arranges a spot for the tradeoff and tells the father to come alone.

Next night they gather around 500,000 and go to the spot (father and uncle) with the cops following and cutting access to areas. There the dude takes the money and points to a figure in the dark and claims thats the child and rides off.

Luckily that was infact the kid. 3 hours layer get a call from the cops that they got the dude. Forgot to mention cops are only this efficient bc the family knows all the political leaders of the area and have some mininsters in their pockets.

Well we go to the station to check up on the situation and they've beaten the shit out of him. Turns out we know the dude tho. He happens to be the son of the land caretaker and was the driver for the family for a few years. His intention apparently was just to steal some stuff outta the house but once he got caught he improvised. His motivation was the fact that wmthe family of the woman he wanted to marry asked for 400000 in dowry and he couldnt afford that.

I know you have a million questions, but I shall answer them in the relevant sub.

Ok. I haven't read this yet, but "my grandmother's sister went into the wheat drying room" is not a sentence I was prepared for. Give me a few moments to compose myself.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ it's an asian village man. And the family owns half the city and have some serious enemies lol

I'll be honest, I have no clue where this would fit. I've looked for communities about weird personal stories, or like tales from the countryside or something, but I got nothing.

Maybe we should start a community.

Not on lemmy.world, everything is on lemmy.world

I think you may have to start a new community for this, I'm genuinely not sure where a story like this might go. Excellent, though. Very interested to find out more.

The "Casual conservation" community is probably too casual for this. Maybe creating something like /c/WildPersonalStories ?

[–] SnokenKeekaGuard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Think I'll create a new community plus post it in casual conversation as a crosspost.

It would fit perfectly into /c/letsnotmeet which doesn’t exist.

I’m very interested in whatever community you create. e: Saving this post to check back.

Summon the council! Are all present?

[–] Okokimup@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Is there a lemmy equivalent to r/letsnotmeet?

[–] kennismigrant@feddit.nl 4 points 1 year ago

Maybe !venting@lemmy.ml or !vent@lemmy.world ? If it is relevant to your location then you could search for options on a local instance like feddit.uk.

Great, created a beehaw account to create a community for wild stories and I can't create a new community there for some reason

[–] rufus@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 year ago

Beehaw has different rules than most other Lemmy instances. And they are kind of seperated a bit, because they 'defederated' from several large instances.
