It's a little awkward when your friends rat you out

[–] AdamEatsAss@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I understand that some nations recognize different groups as terrorists but I'm not sure hammas has a lot of "friends."

If you're not joking:

Pretty sure that comment was in relation to Israel and the US, not Hamas and Egypt.

[–] sik0fewl@kbin.social 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

On Wednesday, Mr Netanyahu described any suggestion that Israel had received a specific warning in advance of the deadly incursion as "totally fake news".

[–] Letstakealook@lemm.ee 22 points 1 year ago

Where have I heard someone say "totally fake news" in reference to the truth before?

[–] dRLY@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 1 year ago

Shit is lining up with 9/11 really well in that aspect. The US was getting alerted by the Russian FSB well before shit went down and were like "lol nah that can't be real you dumb KGB guys". The Israeli gov is using lessons it learned from the US and Fascist Italy/Nazi Germany in false-flags and just lying about very important bits of information.

This is why it's so disgusting, borderline nazi propaganda that people are blaming Hamas for this attack happening. They've been trying to make an attack like this happen for so long so they can justify just going in and wiping everyone out, because that's ultimately what they want.

They're so fucking fascist they don't even care if their own people get caught up, as long as it helps them advance their genocidal agenda.

Liberals when a bully attacks a kid constantly throughout the entire semester: 😴

Liberals when the kid punches back one time: 🚨🚨🚨😲🚨😨🚨🤯🚨😱🚨🚨🚨

Just say you support the genocide of Palestinians.

[–] severien@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wtf I can't even...

Do I read it right that Hamas isn't responsible for the atrocities they committed?

No more than a thief who is starving is responsible for stealing from the society which is starving them. They created Hamas through their devastating genocide and continued subjugation slowly made them more popular than their local government. I don't even need to get into conspiracies (like that they were created to give the Zionists an excuse to continue ramping up the violence) to put the blame solely on the government and material conditions that created them through their pure savagery.

Basically, it's just fucking ISIS all over again. You see all the shocking shit they do but you never look into why they're like that, just take what the empire says at face value when they were quite literally the people who formed/funded/developed ISIS into what it is today. Would I like to invite either group over to my house? As they are now? Fuck no. They need to chill out and become normal people, and let me tell you that is never going to happen when their people are being slaughtered for the sin of existing. They're violent in direct reaction to the violence being perpetuated on them on a day to day basis. This is just their normal, and the empire made it that way, and if you actually want to reduce the amount of harm being done in the world, you have to create a world where they can genuinely heal from all the trauma that was forced onto them.

EDIT: And all you have to say to that is a downvote and leave. God fucking damn it I am so sick of that nazi bar instance why do I even try to reason with any of you.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

"We know that Egypt has warned the Israelis three days prior that an event like this could happen," Mr McCaul told reporters following a closed-door intelligence briefing on Wednesday for lawmakers about the Middle East crisis, according to AFP news agency.

An Egyptian intelligence official told the Associated Press news agency this week that Cairo had repeatedly warned the Israelis "something big" was being planned from Gaza.

On Wednesday, Mr Netanyahu described any suggestion that Israel had received a specific warning in advance of the deadly incursion as "totally fake news".

Israel has been pounding Hamas targets in Gaza in response, while residents of the territory say they have no mains electricity after their only power station ran out of fuel.

Hamas has, meanwhile, condemned US President Joe Biden's remarks on Tuesday saying Israel had a duty to respond to the attacks, which he called an "act of sheer evil".

In the wake of the Hamas attack, the US announced it was moving an aircraft carrier, ships and jets to the eastern Mediterranean, and that it would also give Israel additional equipment and ammunition.

If you think you are invincible and have the moral high ground and support by many Christian nations you won't heed any warnings as you are infallible.

Strongly suspect it was Netanyahu thinking "the populace sure does seem to hate me and my far right party of assholes... even military people dislike me. This calls for unity - we need a good old fashion war. But how does one war by oneself?"

Then he saw the calendar: the anniversary of the Yom Kippur war was right around the corner.

The idea that the IDF and Mossad were completely unaware that the 50th anniversary of one of the biggest conflicts in the history of Israeli-Arab relations was coming up and thought "this will be fine, let's reduce the numbers at the gates and on the walls" simply does not pass the sniff test. I don't think it's a conspiracy, I don't think Israel invited the attack or thought it would be a massacre of this magnitude, but Bibi needed something to distract and this sure did work.

Fuck Hamas, anyone who's willing to commit these kinds of war crimes needs to be destroyed. But Israel, when this shit is over, you need to figure some shit out, I do not for a second believe they don't have calendars or history books or that ANYONE has forgotten the Yom Kippur party 50 years ago this week.

Hamas saw Russia and ISIS and said "hold my Nabidh and watch this!"

I'd be reeeeeeeal interested to know just how much of the HIGHLY publicized attacks against Israeli civilians were completely expected and ignored in order to justify the retaliation.

[–] vivadanang@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think israel had many good reasons to suspect something was coming aside from the anni - apparently also multiple warnings from egypt - and either didn't prep to the threat, or (as it seems with the deployment of forces) pulled soldiers off the wall and borders in multiple places.

doesn't make hamas less bad, they're def war criminals, but this is just... uncharacteristic for the Shin Bet/Mossad/MOI. No intelligence org is perfect, but damn.... this is gonna require study.

[–] SARGEx117@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Oh for sure Hamas is deserving of all the hate and shit headed their way, regardless of anything else they still attacked. I'm just wondering if it could have been stopped and wasn't as a pretense. Study indeed. Intensively by many countries cooperating preferably.
