Take money from the poor, and give it to the cops?

Weird evil Robin Hood.

A reverse Robin Hood; a “Robbin’ the ‘hood” if you will..

If that's happening in Seattle, I'm afraid to find out what's happening in places like Texas

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 13 points 5 months ago

In Texas we swipe money from school taxes and give it to the Texas general fund.

Literally tying public school funds to implementing an "optional" religious curricula, for one thing.

Yeah, I saw Oklahoma bought a bunch of Trump Bibles for their schools. This is the stupidest timeline.

If you're 'lucky', you get a one way bus ticket to Seattle, Portland, San Fran or LA.

They just export their homeless problem.

You figure you could house the homeless if you could only replace their roofs with cops as shingles. It's a little outside the box thinking but let me explain...take the old rooftops and then place cops in the same place the old roof used to occupy. Simple really, but the cops don't like that.

Having experienced both, it's less bad to have shingles than to have cops.

Sara Nelson is up for election next year. She's repeatedly pissed off the constituents too. One of the biggest gaffs was when her friend, Tanya Woo, ran for city council and had a clear decisive loss. Not long after one of the the other council reps stepped down and Sara appointed Tanya to that seat. This last election Tanya had to run again To retain the seat and was, you guessed it, had a decisive loss.

Sara is going to lose the council seat next year, but the damage she's caused will take a while to fix.

Dry alkies are the worst. Almost.

Even worse are pro-cop centrist candidates.

Part of the cause of the budget shortfall is a 23% pay raise for the SPD.

And all this after the SPD's dirty politicking during the BLM protests. That department should have been shut down, the officers banned for life from ever being police again, and then the city starting again from scratch, with proper accountability at every stage.
