Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Real freedom is a truck that only gets 8 miles per gallon and spending $200 a week on gasoline filling it up /s

[–] jscummy@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 year ago

And constantly complaining about gas prices

Honestly, f it, lets see them pump those dinosaur juice prices and get all in a tizzy

It's terrible for low-income Americans, but the "free market" might be telling these other ppl to stop driving SUVs and Trucks by choice.

They are worried about it adding cost to the car? That's hilarious. Just think of all the money you'll save in gas over the course of ownership. It'll be cheaper in the long run.

This has nothing to do with anything rather than the GOP just automatically putting something down that is for the good because it doesn't make big oil money, and of course the left supports it.

It boggles my mind how we can see record heat waves right now, record wild fires poisoning our air, and more, and think that the right thing to do is push for later fuel standards.

[–] Hellsadvocate@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

You will be shocked to learn that the pushback against green energy is actually intensifying as the heat comes. A lot of consrrvstives are saying the heat waves aren't even real.

A perfunctory signal to donors?

[–] markr@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Democrats virtue signal, republicans asshole signal.

[–] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

That would look great on a t-shirt.

[–] WorldieBoi@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Of course. Also, water is wet.

Speaking as a resident in her district, Cathy is a sock puppet for her donors. She's been well paid and will spout the script that her owners/lobbyists have provided for her. I'd be surprised if Cathy has personally filled up a gas tank in the last 10 years. She's a reliable tool for the billionaires.

Fuck her, in the neck, with a spork.

I prefer a higher priced vehicle with better gas mileage so I save money over the long term while being slightly easier on the environment.

Not to be crude. But she looks like her vagina smells like moldy legislation.

Talk about laser focus on the People's needs!

I suspect enough auto makers will benefit from this change - like Tesla, a.k.a. Uncle Elon's Emissions Credit Factory Outlet - that it'll dampen much of the criticism. (and consumers will benefit from all of the extra compliance car subsidies - $20k Bolts e.g.)
