If Tencent is smart (and I'm not a huge fan of thiers) they'd give them a role that's basically a fancy title with no actual power. Tencent is in the position of power here with how poorly Ubi has been doing.
The better question is, why would you spend tons of money to buy out a company just to leave them in control
Like the performance of the company doesn't really matter, it's not really a buyout if you're not gaining control of the company.
Like you can definitely buy out the company and then leave the organization structure in place but have a level higher than the current structure, but I wouldn't call the existing owners as in control in that case because there's still someone above them that could say hey no that's stupid.
Sort of like how Microsoft did with Mojang, they left the studio as is with no clear Direction, but they said hey we're technically over you and if you make a change that we don't like we're going to tell you and you're going to have to stop and also force Microsoft accounts to your game
I mean just sell and retire into the sunset.
The thought of TenUbi makes my micro transaction butthole clench until it's inverse.
