just remember once reading an account of the liberation of a nazi concetration camp, not going to talk about the details, but just imagine the most horrific shit you can imagine and it's a hundred times worse than that. want to read books that have that kind of visceral feel

Not a book, but the film Escape from Sobibor (1987) sounds like something you're describing. As a bonus, Sobibor, October 14, 1943, 4p.m. (2001) is a documentary covering the same event.
