I would like it if things weren’t exclusive to the meta headset. I won’t touch that thing with a 30ft pole. Game exclusivity is hurting an already niche market.
100% agree I only try to support games that are on steam. I hate headset lockin.
While I had a quest a while ago, I'm really glad I only got games on Steam. I lost basically nothing when I sold it, except for the burner Facebook account with a copy of Virtual Desktop which I gave to the buyer of the headset.
I think it misses the main thing, games people feel like they must play to where the hardware is worth the expense. For me it's just Alyx, ACC, and the music game that escapes my memory but you've probably played it.
In that I tried VR but would have rather rented the hardware instead of bought it due to how many games are just meh behind the novelty of VR.
I feel like people who say this just don't know the insanely good games that exists for VR. Lone echo 1 and 2, moss 1 and 2, vertigo 1 and 2, windlands 1 and 2, asgard's wrath 1 and 2, behemoth, boneworks, grimlord, legendary tales, blade and sorcery, eye of the temple, until you fall, underdogs, walking dead saints and sinners, wanderer, robinson: the journey ... and those are just some of my personal favorites. There are a lot of great VR games!
Just got a headset, any JRPG style games you would recommend. I don’t really dig shooters which eliminates a lot of your list. (Still going to check a lot of them out over time though).
Are you on PC? Do you mean turn based JRPGs? I never really played JRPGs. Do you mean something like ruinsmagus or more like arcaxer or maybe not japanese like demeo or table of tales: the crooked crown? I'm not too sure. I have a really weird japanese game that might be called an rpg and is ok fun called girl civilisation 2 VR idk if that could interest you XD
I don't have that game but the tale of onogoro might be something for you. I have no idea what the gameplay is like.
Sorry yeah I got a quest so no PC. I was definitely thinking final fantasy or dragon quest styles with turn based combat and city/dungeon exploration.
I've played a little over half of those games and wasn't impressed. They don't fit my taste in games I guess.
The most used aspect of VR for me is social interactions in VRChat. I would like to see a little more competition in that area in the new year. The novelty of vr gaming gets old quickly but it is a very nice to pull out and play with friends.
As an introvert, that sounds exhausting 😂
Though I might try it at some point just to see.
