Summary

Vivek Ramaswamy has been removed as co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after criticizing U.S. work culture as “mediocre” in a controversial social media post.

The comment reportedly angered allies and led Elon Musk, his DOGE co-chair, to push him out.

Ramaswamy, accused of minimal contributions, plans to run for Ohio governor.

DOGE, an initiative aimed at slashing federal spending, faces legal challenges over transparency and its undefined role within government.

Musk remains its sole leader as lawsuits continue.

He's too brown for the Nazis

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm sure that's part of it. Also, what Vivek said was quite a lot, so fuck him. I'm sure Elon will still push hard for indentured servants to take the jobs of citizens, though.

Musk also shat on the American workforce with the HB1 shit. This is just Musk consolidating power.

[–] RamenJunkie@retro.pizza 65 points 1 week ago (3 children)

@MicroWave Is this the same Musk who said US workers were too dumb and he needed H1B workers?

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah but see, it's trump 101... Do something bad, fire someone else for doing it... When americans realize their jobs are being lost to low cost H1B workers... Pretend you were against it all along, and it was all the fall guys fault.

You know I always watched cheesy spy movies and the like as a kid... where it's always like... Umm... after watching the supervillain just sacrifice minions like it's nothing over and over again... how the hell do they seem to keep recruiting them... and why aren't the existing ones running for their lives.

No one ever believes they'll be the one up against the wall until they're the one up against the wall, sadly.

[–] barkingspiders@infosec.pub 4 points 1 week ago

It's confusing like that

[–] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Yes, but Musk didn’t say it while being brown.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I cannot believe how fast the infighting is moving.

Elon is so fucking insecure that he pushes out the one guy that basically has the same convictions as him. Only because the crowd that cheers for Elon the most has a problem with Vivek.

they like brown shirts not skins.

Hahahahahaha, not even one day before they kicked him out.

Dude didn't even get 1/10th of a mooch

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

He was down in the centimooches. Makes Liz Truss look like Queen Elizabeth.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

All that but licking at the debates was for nothing.

[–] Twentytwodividedby7@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago

Same time Elon did the old Sieg Heil in front of a live, televised audience at the inauguration. Golly, I wonder if these events are related...what the actual fuck

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Vivek got it wrong. It is not Americas work culture that is mediocre. It's the management, both in business and politics, and calling it "mediocre" is quite optimistic...

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Is it management, or is it the money (venture capital/big banks etc) driving management?

Edit: I've worked places with what I'd call good management, but when bigger money comes in things change.

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That will make a wonderful campaign slogan in Ohio!

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ohio is so lily white and one of the most racist U.S. states. They will never accept Ramaswamy.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." g.carlin, et al.

that is, after all, how we are where we are now. and for not the first time.

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah racists can surprise you. If their choice is a Democrat, and a brown skinned racist (who will “run the government like a business” as if that’s a good idea), I have a feeling the racist has a pretty good shot.

I feel like this is a circus of Gollums, and I cannot possibly predict who to internally root for or against, in terms of my hopes aligning with minimizing damage.

Beverly Hills High Oligidioracy.

[–] baronvonj@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I especially like the typo.

[–] Bahnd@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

[checks watch] 24 hours and the in-fighting has already started. [Insert popcorn munching noises here]

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 7 points 1 week ago

Standard fascism. Chaos and in-fighting is built in.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How many mooches did he last?

[–] Bahnd@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

~.09

IIRC a moochie is ~11 days

I feel like that has got to be a record.
