I need 40 minutes in the morning to gather the will to get out of bed and an hour after work to disassociate. Yes I complain of not having enough time but these are non-negotiables

And you're right to complain because those 40 minutes in the morning and the hour after work are both directly linked to your work day. The official work day may only be 8 hours long, but add an often mandatory break, your commute, time to get ready, and time to wind down, and virtually all your waking time is dedicated to your job. That's a great reason to complain!

The idea that we ought to be using time away from work/school to pursue productive activities (especially those that make us more productive at work) is pure capitalist toxic bullshit. Spending days working intensely to only afford the basics of life is the true travesty.

Full agreement from me.

Time to recover from work is unpaid time we are required to carve out of our "free time"

Ugh so real Half it that if due to my bad scheduling / time management skills but I can't really control that

The problem is having to spend more than ⅓ of my day working.
