My first Mage run, I hit upon a wand of Living Earth on level 1 and found it so powerful that I imbued and upgraded it.

So far, the wand's guardian is strong enough to get rid of enemies while I loot around, and the Rock armor is awesome. Will that last?

I won the game with other classes several times, but have not played Mage yet. Now I am greeting the wandmaker... Any hints for a novice Mage?

Living Earth is my favourite wand in the game, and the guardian is ridiculously strong with a highly upgraded wand, I don't think you'll have any issues

Yeah this looks like a lucky start. Does Rock armor block Magic damage too?

I found it falls off very hard late game in the demon halls where the guardian just gets wrecked by every enemy and you don't do enough damage to really heal it or build up your armor

I did win the game with that wand (vampiric +5 wand of living earth) but I got carried by a wand of corrosion

My favourite is fireblast just because of how ridiculously OP it is even without any upgrades.

Yeah and it's also useful for burning away the wooden barriers to item rooms you occasionally find

Trouble is, I'm clumsy so I end up burning grass or scrolls by mistake :(

Now I got to choose between corruption and cold...

Decisions decisions... I may take corruption because of AoE damage, but will it hurt the Guardian?

I'd probably take corrosion, which IIRC the guardian is immune to. So while it distracts, corrosion wrecks even a group of enemies

And so I did, and found that it hurts the Guardian but not too much.
