Sweet, now just need to be able to see location details like in Google maps and I'm golden

5 months ago.... I was going to say, I have been using this feature for months. It works really well.

Awesome, I've been looking for a hiking app.

Osmand is still better for hiking, despite the flaws it has otherwise.

I just started hiking semi regularly, would osmand be good for finding easy trails you could take a stroller on?

I'm not sure. I usually find trails on Komoot and then set waypoints in Osmand to match the trail.

Looking at komoot looks pretty cool, so it's like a one time buy for the maps?

Kind of sucks because I live right at the tip between three regions haha but beats a subscription if it's a one time purchase

Edit: the free pack is actually covers the area I'm most interested in so I'll check it out

I just plan my hike on the Komoot website and then use Osmand to route and record my track. I have the map configured to highlight official hiking routes and benches, so I can plan breaks.
