Now officials plan to release sterile male fruit flies in the area, to reduce the population of the invaders.

[–] Moobythegoldensock@lemm.ee 27 points 8 months ago (1 children)

The sterile males mate with the females, which fail to produce offspring, reducing the population over time.

Henry Wu : Actually they can't breed in the wild. Population control is one of our security precautions. There's no unauthorized breeding in Jurassic Park.

Dr. Ian Malcolm : How do you know they can't breed?

Henry Wu : Well, because all the animals in Jurassic Park are female. We've engineered them that way.

[–] Deceptichum@kbin.social 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

But again, how do you know they're all female? Does someone go into the park and, uh... pull up the dinosaurs' skirts?

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Honestly this QA would’ve helped.

They should be introducing millions of frogs to combat the fruit flies.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 15 points 8 months ago (1 children)

But then what about the frogs?

And to get rid of the snakes?

[–] Cheradenine@sh.itjust.works 19 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Mongeese (plural of mongoose)? Then jackals, then heffalumps, and finally climate change which should solve it once and for all. Seriously, drive more, what's good for M and M Enterprises is good for the planet...

I'm Hungry. I saw this before reading the title. It looks like a top view of a taco. That looks really tasty. Then I realized this was not a taco and I have brought much shame upon my family.

[–] roguetrick@kbin.social 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

That taco is all shell. Likely to trigger chitin allergies if you eat too much. Don't recommend.

[–] Vej@lemm.ee 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Dude. It looked delicious. Like an open taco bell 7 layer burrito or something.

[–] agent_flounder@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)
