So that means I don't have to pay back any of my student loans, right?

Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --
God I wish.
It'd be "funny" if that's the final bone they throw us. Especially after the last four years of Biden jerking us around.
It's wild because if Biden forgave loans, Kamala would probably be president right now.
Up until election day 2020, libs insisted that Biden would do all these things for us, including ending student loans and signing off on stimulus checks. What a fucking blunder it was to not even try to ride that momentum by half-assedly following through.
Now we would have Harris losing and the dismantling of our education system. And all so that nothing would fundamentally change.
By Tuesday, a judge will tell him he can't do that. By next week Friday, he'll reverse course and claim victory because he got the gender ideology out of the schools. Next quarter, every underfunded school will be in a worse state than it is currently in, but schools in white suburbs will be fine.
I think the only good thing to come out of shock doctrine is that everyone is getting shocked in every way at the same time. The teachers, students, pensioners and disabled, scientists, bureaucrats, military and veterans, consumers, business owners, pilots, park rangers, etc. The mass response to Trump's first term was limited because his agenda was gradual and targeted. The courts weren't yet staffed with his yes-men so there was usually something keeping most people insulated from any particular thing. Every MAGA hog buys things that are only going to be more expensive next year as the economy is worse for them. Every MAGA hog knows someone whose life will be destroyed by these things, even if they don't realise what that department even did for them. The town halls and calls to politicians are already very intense, and now JDPON Don is saying "let a hundred Luigis blossom" right before the summer protest season.
To feel alienated enough to be in the streets in 2020, you had to be an anti-racist or a COVID sacrifice. The alienation on everyone is compounding so much so rapidly now.
Maybe. Or they could go through with that $5k check idea, kick the can down the road a couple years for the less precarious, and leave the poor scrambling.
But, I've not heard anything more about that, so I doubt it's gonna happen at this point.
Idk, I'm just not expecting much to happen from a population with no political education. Sure, more stochastic violence, but the odds of it being directed towards those who deserve it seem iffy, to me.
I don't have any faith in the average American, but I do believe that a rising tide lifts all boats. If the background temperature of material conditions is rapidly increasing, that breaks the thing that has allowed Americans to exist in cartoon land since the 1950s. They're faced with the choice between action or death in the way they were in the 1930s, a much more radical time with a lot more potential for the left. Trump is shaping up to be Hoover more than Reagan.
God I hope so. The people around me just seem to be like "so this is the new normal now". They still haven't developed their conscious enough to reach the point where they realize they need to do something.
