Having a physical disability and doing anything except dying quietly, at least in the United States.

[–] ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Having traveled a bit I think the US is one of the better countries for people with physical disabilities, especially roads and buildings wise.

There are over 100k homeless people within 100 miles of me right now. I have fallen through the cracks of this system and been subject to it directly after a broken neck and back. No one can survive on their own with the benefits and getting those benefits is nearly impossible now. It takes years of effort that is demeaning and degrading with dozens of intentional loopholes and cost barriers for systemic denials and terrible treatment. There are even treatments for my problems with stem cells in Japan, but the inbred halfwits of Western normalized cultural mysticism prevent any stem cell research and treatments here in this Luddite backwater.

Too feminine: weak, controllable

Not feminine at all: ugly troll, clearly failed at being feminine and this is just cope

[–] cone_zombie@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If you managed to be both, why not maintain a balance

[–] Alice@beehaw.org 2 points 1 day ago

Never found the right balance. 🀷 I said "fuck it" anyway, because there's a few reasons being less feminine is more comfortable for me. I like lifting weights but hate a sweaty scalp, so bye bye hair. I like the fit of men's shirts more. And I realized that there's a lot clothes and accessories that I find pretty to look at, but I don't really get anything from wearing them.

It sucks because customers and family both make rude comments, but at least my clothes are comfy.

Quitting nicotine. I wanted to quit so that I could get in shape without almost dying, but after two months of rigorous exercise and healthy eating I just feel depressed, incredibly bored (the dopamine from exercise was nice at first but doesn’t really help now) and I’m now 10 lbs heavier than I was to begin with.

😐 Pooping.

Hemorrhoids.

[–] toadjones79@lemm.ee 1 points 3 days ago

Oh, bum deal.

(I knew a guy who said that to a kid with obvious debilitating hemorrhoids by accident once. I'm sorry for being crass)

Contrast. As in, the balance of values in my drawings. My eyes seem to be simultaneously contrast-sensitive and quick to desensitize if I keep looking at the picture, so I end up in this weird state of feeling like a picture has either got too much contrast or too little...
