My friend said he's wary of eating soy because of phytoestrogens, he claims he experienced some kind of breast growth-adjacent symptoms?
Granted, my friend is a gay man who is not concerned with his masculinity in the slightest, he's very much a woke lib and far removed from any kind of manosphere weirdos. No idea what that's about. I tried looking it up but got conflicting results.
Unlikely. Not going to say he's lying about his personal experience, but the symptoms aren't likely to be related.
If it was true, wouldn't countries where soy forms a large part of the diet (Japan, China) be experiencing this all the time? Pretty sure the Chinese CDC recommends eating tofu every day.
People see phytoestrogen and latch on to the estrogen bit, forgetting that the phyto- means plant. It's mostly incompatible with human hormone receptors.
