Sieze on this, use his narcissism for good and bring somewhat normalcy back. Tell Trump if Vlad doesn't listen then you have to be tough. He is willing to be tough to our allies MX, CA this could be a turning point

Tell him, "Donald, you need to be tough on Russia if Putin isn't willing to listen. But. You're a smart guy, you don't need to be told that"

“People are saying that vlad mocks you on Russian state tv”

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nah, tell him how smart he is, that of course he already thought of what he's being told. He'll eat it up.

Elaborating on the comments in the Oval Office later, Trump pledged that “things will happen” if Russian attacks continue.

Art of the deal ladies and gentlemen. I'm sure Putin is shaking in his boots right now...

I'm glad that Trump is looking like he's going against Putin, but it's not really correct. He's blaming Zelensky because he won't give up his territory.

As part of its mission to seal a peace deal to end the three-year war, the US administration has proposed recognizing Russian control of Crimea, officials familiar with the details have told CNN.

Such a move would reverse a decade of US policy and could upset the widely held post-World War II consensus that international borders should not be changed by force.

Zelensky has repeatedly said Ukraine would not accept that, saying it would go against the country’s constitution. On Wednesday, Trump said Zelensky’s position was “very harmful to the Peace Negotiations with Russia.”

Did this article completely change? It's expressing pretty much the opposite sentiment to the crosspost on this exact same community but both link to the same page.

What's the opposite of "eating the onion?" I was sure when I saw this headline it was an Onion article, only to find out it's apparently true; do we have a term for that yet?

"First you attack with all you have and then I will swoop in like the defender of peace and force them into a deal that unilaterally favours you"

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nixon resigned.

[–] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

To be fair, he did say it on Truth Social, and since we all know that Putin is a well known conspiracy theory-shilling conservative, I’m sure he’s going to get the message, right?

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Thursday.

At least 12 people died in the strikes with 90 injured, according to Ukraine’s emergency services, and more casualties may be trapped under rubble. The emergency services said Moscow’s assault struck 13 locations in Kyiv, including residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.

Trump yells to the void and expects that he made a difference.
