I've figured out how people make those fancy designed emails that all look like one image (Figma and the snip tool to break it up into parts).

Does anyone know some good resources on graphic design so I can actually make decent looking designs?

I don't know any graphic design theory and everything I do just looks too bland or busy. I know how to use the tools, now I need to know how to make them look good.

My tooth broke yesterday while I was eating lunch, so now I’ve got a toothache and dentist’s appt. Hopefully it’s just part of the crown and can be re-glued. The tooth also has a big filling so I’m a bit worried they’ll suggest pulling it out

Today in one of the classes I observed, I heard some young people talking about how silly the Clive Palmer ads are. The thing I love about being in schools is that there are brilliant young minds and many of them can think critically and consider multiple perspectives. The other thing is that school can act as a protective measure against being an asshole in some aspects. A kid said something inappropriate to get a kick out of his mates and the teacher chatted to them about why he said it and why it was the wrong thing to say.

I don't think the kids are really enjoying my lessons right now, and I guess that's kind of sad, but okay. I had some teachers in school who made me enjoy some subjects I didn't love (e.g. had a teacher who taught history through storytelling, English through lots of modelling and active learning, maths through linking it to the universe). Maybe I'm not that right now, but one day I could be.

Another thing is that with kids who have been through trauma, you can potentially be someone who is a stable and trustworthy adult in their lives and show them what a safe relationship looks like. Again, those are VERY big shoes to fill, but I aspire to be someone who supports and advises young people to reach their potential.

I taught a liver function class to 12 sleeping students one time. It was dry content, they didn't need to know it, it was on the syllabus but not the exam.

Looking for recommendations on both power tools and security cameras. My tools were Ryobi which I liked their reciprocating saw and blower but the mower wasn't great. I had a good experience with Ozito multitool, and been told apparently bunnings will take them back no questions asked. Open to any recommendations but budgets gonna be fairly tight since i'm starting over and want to spend money on cameras. On that note: Anyone had any installed? Things they liked, things they don't or installers that were good to work with?

I think I have used every power tool brand and usually go with Makita due to the consistency, durability, great batteries and a vast range of power tools on offer. (even coffee makers and microwaves haha!)

They are are a little more expensive though so maybe not a good choice for you.?

Ryobi is probably your best bet as it is an affordable option for DIY. I have used Ryobi in a professional setting as well and the only drawback is the battery life isn’t great so more batteries are required to keep going on jobs. (if you are worried about the lawnmower, I would suggest a good petrol power Honda or Victa anyway.)

Also check out Metabo (formerly Hitachi) they are priced competitively, durable and have a flexi volt system in which you can run them corded or on just batteries. I own a couple of their drills and they have served me well.

Hope that helps.

Everytime I hear beef Wellington I get a little excited. If I was to make individual ones I'd use filo pastry not puff and slather that baby with melted butter. 😋

Ah man, I’m getting nitpicked over a news title when the site wouldn’t offer a suggested one for the link.

Like damn dudes, I don’t perfectly understand something that doesn’t apply to me. But I do know a law changing that could invalidate a lot of drivers licenses overnight might be something people should know about? Preferably before they get pulled over?

If I made a small mistake in the title they can go read the article that will tell them the exact info.

Blenders are not supposed to smoke

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Very true. Have you tried taking it's cigarettes/vapes away from it?

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I took away it's juice and told it to go cool off in the corner
